I have completely fallen in love with the new Lakme Absolute Sculpt Studio Hi-Definition Matte Lipsticks and kind of ordered a few. 😀 Although, they looked different in pictures, they turned out to be very similar in reality with just a slight difference in undertone. So, I might have to gift these to my friends.

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Plum Spell Sculpt Studio Hi-Definition Matte Lipstick:

The lipstick has the exact packaging as the earlier Absolute range lipsticks. It comes in a silver metallic cylinder housed in a transparent tube. The cap is transparent and hence, the color identification becomes easy. The cap opens and shuts with a twist and is not prone to opening automatically which makes it very travel friendly. The bullet comes out with a twist mechanism and that too with a click. Hence, one has to twist the lipstick or it won’t come out. This lock and twist system is very unique and new.

Plum Spell is, again, a red shade with a little tint of purple. You won’t be able to see any significant difference if you swatch Red Rush and this one side by side. But, this one seems to be a tad brighter than Red Rush and would work wonders for parties. Plum Spell has no connection with the ‘Plum’ in its name. Actually, I had ordered this because it seemed to be a dark purple with red undertones and when it arrived, it turned out to be the exact brighter version of Red Rush. This one too is a matte shade which when applied looks sheer, but settles down to a matte finish. Plum Spell has a creamy texture and application is very smooth. As a thumb rule for people with dry lips, don’t forget to prep and moisturize your lips before application.

Being matte, this one definitely dries out my lips after 2-3 hours. Plum Spell has great pigmentation and does complete justice to the color with just a single swipe. Again, the staying power is good, i.e., 4-5 hours. This particular shade fades away in patches and starts looking flaky after 6-7 hours. It is transferable also and would bleed, if a lipliner is not used. Also, it is not waterproof.

I am a little disappointed with the fact that there are two shades in the same range which are absolutely identical to each other, but they look different on web which is very deceiving.
