Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation Review

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation Review

Hi Girls!

Today’s review is on what is probably the cheapest foundation available in India, the Lakme Perfecting Foundation.  It is also one of the first foundations that came into the Indian market. Remember the times when makeup meant only kaajal, lipstick and bindi? Those were the times when girls and aunties used to shop for foundations only when an occasion like a wedding took place and that too foundation was just like another lotion for them, perfect matching shades was never the concern. In fact, we still find in small towns women asking the retailer for “a foundation” not mentioning brand or shade whatsoever! Well, thankfully, we have evolved from that stage, but what has remained with us is the Lakme Perfecting Foundation.

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation Review

Product Description:

  • Blends easily into your skin to create a soft glowing and feather like finish.  A water-resistant, oil-free formula with Vitamin E that provides superior coverage.
  • Contains Vitamin E that soothes and moisturizes the skin.
  • Silicones help in easy application, spreading evenly for an even toned look.

The following are the shades that are available on Lakme’s website:

Pearl, Marble, Shell, Coral.

I never saw the fourth shade in any shop :-/ The one I bought is the “Marble” shade which was for fair to wheatish skin tones.  I guess “Shell” would have suited me better, but this foundation was for my sister, and since she is fairer than me, so that was her shade.

Perfecting Foundation 1

Price:

Rs.99 for 27 ml.

Packaging:

It comes in a simple glass bottle with a brown screw cap. The packaging has remained unchanged over the years, and this bottle is synonymous with the word “foundation” for many till now.

Shade/Texture:

This shade is a yellowish beige one and is light. It blends easily on the skin, but like all old-school foundations, it does leave a whitish cast behind. Maybe the darker shades won’t have this problem. A little amount is enough to cover the entire face and neck. Coverage is something I cannot comment on since I don’t have blemishes or marks on my face. But even if I did have, I would not like a whitish layer over them!

Perfecting Foundation 2

Notice the whitish layer. I hate it! The staying power is around 4 to 5 hours which is pretty good for a foundation this cheap.  It is not water resistant as it claims, it washed off when I used plain water.  I personally love the Invisible Finish Foundation from Lakme, so I will keep this one only for emergencies.

Pros of Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation:

  • Cheap.
  • Widely available.
  • Light texture.
  • Easily blendable.

Cons of Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation:

  • Typical old school foundation which makes the face go “white”!
  • Not water resistant.

IMBB Rating:

2/5.

I hope this was helpful.  Keep smiling, keep glowing!

  3. Hi Aparajita,First of all, i so loved all your pujo looks n tried to imitate too :).
You were so natural yet attrative in all those snaps.
Cming to the foundation,i like it along with daily souffle one bt in order to avoid to whitish cast i mix the same with few drops of water or mosturizer smtimes.

  6. I don’t lyk this foundation.coz it stays only for 2 hrs…nd it started running out when I go outside.already I have oily skin this foundation makes my face more oily.even Revlon photo ready didn’t suits for me.I want my face fresh throughout the day.so nw
I planned to buy lakmee 9 to 5 office stylish.let me try.is there any comments….?I have tried many foundation but nothing is suitable for my wheatish oily skin.I’m fed up in choosing the perfect foundation

  7. This was my first foundation back in the 9th grade(7 years ago). I still use it when I need a light coverage. The white cast can be easily avoided by using a darker shade. Prior moisturizing and blending this foundation well is mandatory. I have a very acne prone skin and it never broke me out! *clap* So cheers to the old mommy! *clap* 😛
