My Experience with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Protect SPF 30 UVB/UVA/PA+++ Review
I have become a huge fan of Laura Mercier primers. I have two of them in my kit and I just cannot get enough of them. The Laura Mercier primers come in this standard mauvy champagne tubes. The have a twist cap and small nozzle. I find it quite an easy and handy to use.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Protect SPF 30 is a lightweight cream coloured ton lotion-cream consistency kind of primer. It spreads on the skin thinly and evenly making for a good base for primer to go on smoothly. I abbbbsolutely love that it has SPF and both UVA and UVB protection. That makes it excellent choice for an everyday day time primer. If you are someone who finds sunscreen heavy to use or if your sunscreen makes you sweaty, this is an excellent product. I have been using it constantly for almost a month now and I have absolutely no complaints with it. It leaves no trace of product on your skin. I have posted a before blending and after blending swatch below. You wouldn’t even able able to see any shine or whitish case or just about anything in a blended swatch. It takes some 30 seconds for that dewiness to settle down. It makes an excellent base for liquid foundations, tinted moisturisers and even powder foundations. It keeps the foundation looking fresh for good 6-7 hours and I also notice that my blush lasts longer when i use this. I mean on days when you want to leave your skin looking natural, just use this primer as a base, do a bit of spot concealing and set everything with a bit of powder. You could totally skip that extra step of applying sunscreen because this does provide a pretty good protection for a day to day wear. It has never broken me out or clogged my pores. It is fragrance free. It does not really do much for the pores except giving a light illusion of a smoother skin before you apply the foundation. It is oil free but not something that controls oils. So for those with oily skin, don’t expect it to be a mattifying primer. It does not have any shine or sheen to it but it is not like your regular silicone based primer that might even give you a shine / oil control. But using a heavy primer loaded with silicons on an every day basis is not a good idea anyway.I feel such primers should be reserved for special occasions.
All said and done and it being an amazing primer, I don’t think it is a must have because you definitley have your sunscreen as an option. This definitley saves that extra layer/ set in your makeup routine. I feel you could really choose from amazing range of primers such as hydrating or radiance that Laura Mercier has to offer..the one that give a very specialised look to your makeup. But if you really get put off by the hassles of sunscreen this is worth the investment. Don’t take it as a substitute for a sunscreen but for a day to day protection from the sun this is an amazing deal. You need a tad it more than a pea sized amount for full face so this will last you pretty long. Totally sold out by the amazing Laura Mercier primers. A definite fan and wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase from the range for sure. These are not available in India yet.
