About Laura Mercier Wheat Eye Basics:

A multi-tasking eye color/eye primer that camouflages imperfections and enhances makeup.

What it does:
Create the perfect canvas for your eyes. The sheer, creamy texture blends easily and smoothly, leaving a long-lasting semi-matte finish. The eyes are primed and imperfections and discolorations are covered, leaving lids smooth and even. Skin-friendly ingredients enhance this delicate skin, while botanicals soothe and vitamins A, E, and C provide anti-oxidant protection. Water-resistant and crease-proof, it contains natural clay, which prevents creasing.

What else you need to know:
Use as a primer, or alone to add a little color to your eyes.

My Experience with Laura Mercier Wheat Eye Basics:

Packaging: Comes in a simple tube with a doe-foot applicator. The applicator makes it very easy to deposit the product wherever you wish.

Texture:

This product is very smooth and creamy. It blends out effortlessly with fingers or brush. It dries down to nice cream to powder finish with a complete matte finish. It does not feel very tacky or sticky, yet it provides a good base to start you eye makeup with.

Shade:

The shade Wheat is described as light medium beige. I have genetic dark circles which make my whole eye area much darker than my face including my eye lids hence I will usually use a concealer as a primer as I do need that camouflaging over my eyelids just as I need it under my eyes but the problem usually with that is – concealers crease easily over eye lids.

I love the fact that this product has very good pigmentation and camouflages and color corrects all my darkness and visible veins over my lids. It gives me a smooth silky canvas to work for my eye looks. Since it is pigmented I can also sometimes use this for spot camouflaging over my face.

I love using this on its own too when I am not in the mood for doing a full face of makeup. This product on the lids along with come concealer under the eyes and mascara makes my eyes look bright and wide awake.

I do have very oily lids and this product also helps keep my eye lids stay oil free and matte all day; which is a huge plus when I use this under my eye shadows. As far as it acting like a primer, I did not notice a huge difference in the intensity of my shadows (which may be due to its non-sticky nature) with or without this product (as you can tell by the picture).

Staying Power:

It does last all day without creasing which is about 8 hours for me.
Overall, I do really love this product for my dark and oily eye lids. This is not a huge innovative product and I feel like a good concealer can also function the same way in terms of color correcting; I do not like the fact that it is not really functional as a primer and prolonging the wear of my eye shadows. But it does give you a good canvas for your eye makeup and is long-wearing. Hence I will recommend this product.

Cons of Laura Mercier Wheat Eye Basics:
