L’Occitane En Provence Lip Balm – Cocoa Flower Review

L’Occitane En Provence Lip Balm – Cocoa Flower Review

Hi Everyone,

Today, I shall be reviewing a lip balm by L’Occitane. Having heard Rati rave so much about this brand, I bought quite a few things for me from the same brand.  I must add that the shampoo and the conditioner is awesome, but the lip balm turned out to be quite a dud. Let’s take a detaliled review of the same:

L'Occitane En Provence Lip Balm Cocoa Flower Review

Product Being Reviewed:

L’Occitane En Provence Lip Balm.

Flavour:

Cocoa Flower.

Ingredients:

Hydroxystearic Linolenic/ oleic Polyglycerides- Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, Butyrospermum parkii( sheaa) Butter. Helianthus Annuus( Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cera Alba, Beeswax, Silica, Theobroma Cacao ( Cocoa)Seed Extract. Parfum, Fragrance- Tocopherol, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Cinnamate ( Ingredients from organic farming)

Price/ Packaging/ Quantity:

INR 700 for 15 ml. It comes in a silver-aluminium tube with a blue-coloured screw cap. I did not like the packaging at all as the tube cannot be put to the lips directly owing to the sharp edges of the metal being used.

My Experience with L’Occitane En Provence  Lip Balm – Cocoa Flower:

Well, I have mentioned in the beginning itself that this one turned out to be a dud. It is a thick, transparent balm which spreads very easily on the lips and feels very light as if nothing was put. It smells heavenly of chocolate and cocoa, so it is a treat for all chocolate lovers.  My 3-year-old niece is after my life to put this balm on her lips whenever she sees me applying this because of the taste and smell of chocolate.  It does brings an instant shine which stays for 15- 20 minutes or till the time you eat something, whichever is earlier.  It did not make my lips soft which I would expect a lip balm from L’Occitane to do. Also, it contains bees wax and shea butter, so it should have been a boon to the lips.  On the contrary, my lips were unaffected. I might as well add that despite such wonderful ingredients, it could not do anything for my dry and chapped lips. I even had it overnight to test the efficacy, but again, in the morning, my lips did not feel soft or healed. All in all, it is good only for its flavour.

Summing the pros and cons:

Pros of L’Occitane En Provence  Lip Balm – Cocoa Flower:

  • Smells and tastes deliciously nice of chocolate.
  • Contains shea butter and bees wax and all other ingredients which have been derived through organic farming.
  • Brings a shine to the lips, but that’s again for a very short period.

Cons of L’Occitane En Provence  Lip Balm – Cocoa Flower:

  • Firstly, it didn’t make my lips soft, neither did it heal the dryness.
  • Secondly, I have paid an exorbitant amount for the quantity, so I would expect at least some result, but nothing happened at all.
  • It is a limited edition lip balm.
  • Packaging could be worked upon.

IMBB Rating:

2 out of 5

  1. Packaging is not at all good, before reading the review itself i thought it, even the himalaya lip balm (tube) has a good packaging
Sorry, it turns to be a dud product for you Shivani 🙁

  2. sorry abt this..this one from L’occitane turned out to be not so impressive..:( I have never owned a Loccitane product though I had very briefly used their shampoos which my husband had got from one of the hotels he was staying in. that was really nice..

    1. I am using the shampoo, conditioner and the hair mask Aru which even Rati uses, they are wonderful products but this lip balm….grrrrrr * spank* * headbang* u know even i ask my husband to get those cyte little shampoo n moisturiser bottles for me from the hotels …hehe,,,,,they are so much fun na….though he is too reluctant to pick them up but since i do emotional atyachaar he does get those once in a while for me 🙂 🙂

  3. yeah.. this too seems like boroline.. and what hell.. it doesnt even deal with the dryness..! sad.. it is not upto the mark. 🙁

Good that these products are reviewed on IMBB and others can learn about the product before purchasing them.

    1. this boroline cost me 700 bucks surabhi 🙁 i am glad if i was of some help in saving someone’s hard earned money…

  4. Ouch. it hurts… so much money and no help in even dealing with dryness. Sorry for you, Shivani.

There is one organic lip balm I recently encountered and purchased at a stall from ‘Young’. the lip balm is fantastic. It made my lips so yum and even pinkier. A little darkening due to sun on the lip line also reduced. I recommend this to every one. and its way to easy on pocket. Just 110 Rs. I use it as bed time lip therapy. Their lipsticks are also good and they too treat your lips.

  5. 700 bucks for a lipbalm which comes in a boroline kind of pack and is just about as useful for the lips as soft mud? Fail. Never thought that there could be a l’Occitane product which could turn out to be such a dud. 😐 Thanks for the review, Shivani. You probably saved many people the money that they can blow up on a nice facial instead. 😀
