Hi Dolls,

Who doesn’t like to get a little dolled up and go to a party? My favorite party look is a little LBD and beautiful smoky eyes, and a great pair of heels. It is very simple and yet it never goes out of season.  So, recently I bought the L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Eye Duo Blanche Etoile. It happened quite my chance (yes I keep telling that to myself), that my parents were visiting and they are a big fan of L’Occitane, so I went to help them out with their shopping and landed up buying a few products as well.  L’Occitane is a French luxury brand very well known for its skin care products, but recently, they launched their makeup and this eye shadow duo is a part of their Peony Spring/Summer 2011 collection. For all those who don’t know, peonies have revitalizing properties therefore very good for the skin.  The packaging itself is very sweet – it has these pastel pinkish peach background, purple flowers (I suppose peonies), and a ballerina figurine drawn on it. The best part about the packaging is that it is made of paper made of sustainable products, hence it is eco-friendly.

I had previously tried a lot of duos but by far this has turned out to be one of the best.  Also, the price is quite reasonable at Rs. 1540. The pigmentation is fantastic.  I use a proper eye shadow brush (Bare Escentuals Tapered Eye Shadow Brush) for this duo, but the double ended brush that is provided is quite good and useable. It blends in well, so for all those who use their fingers, I think this product will work just fine, but I always am careful not to go overboard and flash the inner raccoon.

I generally use an eye shadow primer before using this product because it tends to flake off a little. It does not crease, but like I said, it’s always better to wear a good eye shadow primer, better to be safe than sorry. The charcoal color is absolutely beautiful and almost perfect for the smoky eye effect. It can transform your tired eyes in minutes. The eye shadow is not at all glittery, just a very subtle look. The eye shadow is cream based and smoothes out easy.  Since I have a tendency to smell everything I buy, so yes, it does have a very faint sweet natural smell to it.

The highlighter that is provided is also great, I try to mix and match other colors or incorporate other shadows with it and it works beautifully.  I at times use blue mascara to make my eyes pop. The highlighter I reckon should be used with charcoal, do not and I repeat, “do not” just use the charcoal and think you are done unless like I said that is your inner raccoon calling.

Both the colors are beautiful and they have a few other selections of colors that would be wonderful for any skin tone. Plus if you mix both the shades, a third one appears. Overall, the entire product is quite impressive and if you care looking for a good product with beautiful ingredients that works well, then this is for you.  The color is very sheer, so you have to put in a little effort, but the texture is very nice and equally smooth. Also, because it is very sheer, you can also use this during the day time.

The only issue with this product is probably the fact that it is not available everywhere. If it is not available at the L’Occitane boutiques, then I doubt you can get it anywhere, but you can try online. The other issue is that for some people, this product can be a little too sheer for their taste and can complain that it is too light. Flaking can also be an issue in some cases (not in mine till now), so therefore I strongly suggest you use a good primer for your eyes. Apart from that, I think the product is brilliant.

• Great packaging, I reckon can be very good for gifting as well.
• Beautiful colors.
• Very creamy and sheer, easy to apply, and blends easy.
• The applicator is handy as well.
• Highlighter can be used with other eye shadows as well.
• Peonies are great for the skin.

• Some users may find the colors a little too sheer for their taste.
• The eyeshadows can flake and come off a little.

4/5, I loved it, but I won’t buy this one again anytime soon.  There are other fish in the sea, to explore and discover 😛
