Which is the best way to set foundation? Is it better using a compact or using loose powder and also top brand recommendations for each. (I have oily skin and have heard people raving about The Body Shop loose powder but unfortunately we don’t get it in Kerala as far as I know, so would be great if the list include other brands)

Shyna loose powders are the best for setting making and especially for oily skin, they are a blessing. They absorb more oil than the pressed powder. Also you would never get any cakiness on your face if you set your makeup with loose powder.

You can keep pressed powder for touchups during the day. I have never faced any problem with lakme face compacts. Lotus does a fantastic job with its compact. Even revlon is decent.

Loose powder, I don’t know anything other than Lakme Rose powder in drugstore range…wonder if you get Beyu in your area.

Elf high definition powder is also a good one for its price. I think you should be able to get this by ordering olnine. Other high end products would be the Mac loose powder ofcourse and the Nars loose powder jus works magic on the face.

Sorry forgot to mention. I also use the Mac mineralize skinfinish natural to set my foundation. It also works very good. I think there is no hard and fast rule of using compact or loose powder for setting foundation. Its just what works very well for you.But as rati pointed out using some powder for setting foundation especially for oily skin is highly recommended.

Loose powder works brilliantly for my oily skin.. and currently I am also using lakme rose powder..the only problem with loose powder is that you need to be very careful in its application…too much or too less of it can ruin the entire makeup..which is not the case with compact.
so, I think for our kind of skin, loose powder is the best option. Makeup locked between a layer of primer and loose powder goes a long way :)
