When I saw Rati’s Red Obsession the other day, I had a feeling of déjà vu. A few weeks ago, I had picked up a few reds from the L’Oréal Color Riche Collection Exclusive. This is a collection of 9 Signature Red shades named after L’Oréal’s celebrity brand ambassadors. Since, I had a hard time choosing amongst the shades, I ended up buying 5 of them. I picked up the shades named after Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, Freida Pinto, Zoe Saldana and Liya Kebede. Read on to find out more.

My Experience with L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds – Julianne’s Red:
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a gorgeous timeless black matte and gold packaging. It has the celebrity’s signature on it in gold. The packaging has a velvety feel to it which seems quite luxurious. The cap shuts with a click lock and hence is travel friendly as there is no danger of the cap coming off loose. One con of this velvet case is that it attracts dust.
Shade/Pigmentation: Julianne’s Red is a gorgeous strawberry red with a touch of pink. It is a very vibrant shade and might not suit darker skin tones as it is quite bright. However, it is a shade which will look good with Indian traditional wear.
The pigmentation on this lipstick is just perfect. It is not too intense but it is still enough to cover the lips in a single swipe.
Texture/Finish/Staying Power: The lipstick is quite soft and creamy and glides on the lips. There is no tugging at all when you apply the lipstick. It feels quite light on the lips and is very comfortable to wear. This is marketed as a matte lipstick; I will call it more of a semi-matte lipstick with a velvety finish. It does not dry out the lips and feels quite moisturizing. Since this is a bright shade, I do experience a bit of feathering. I would recommend wearing a lip liner. I would also recommend exfoliating the lips properly before putting this on as it highlights dry patches otherwise.
The lipstick has the typical vanilla-like fragrance which most L’Oréal lipsticks have. I personally feel very nostalgic by this fragrance as it transports me to those days when I would sneak a peek into my mom’s lipsticks 🙂
The staying power of the lipstick is pretty good and it lasts for about 5-6 hours with light meals. However, since it is not completely matte, it does transfer. It leaves behind a pretty reddish stain on the lips.

- Decent staying power – around 5-6 hours.

Cons of L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds – Julianne’s Red:
- Strong fragrance (though I personally like it).
- Lip liner is recommended as it tends to feather a bit.
- This particular shade might not suit all skin tones.
- Velvet case attracts dust.

I would surely recommend you to try out this range and find that perfect red for you. I will not repurchase exact same shade; I already have few other shades from this range.
