L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds Lipstick – 405 Freida’s Red Review

I am back with another lipstick review which is by L’Oreal. I picked up Freida’s Red which is not the same as one launched in India. Let us jump into the review.

My Experience with L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds Lipstick – 405 Freida’s Red:

Packaging:
The packaging is very classy and has names of the ambassador embarked in gold on the tube.The black twist up tube itself has the soft leather touch which makes it very sturdy and classy looking. The signature of the ambassador is embarked on the top of the tube in gold. The code and name of the shade is at the bottom of the tube in colored sticker which resembles the shade of lipstick.

Texture:
It is creamy and smooth on application. It is not a complete matte, but has a slight sheen to it. It has creamy, semi-matte but not drying texture and it glides like butter on lips. Due it its creamy texture, it transfers a lot while eating and drinking. It does not tug on lips during application and even on layering, it do not appears patchy.

Pigmentation:
It has amazing color payoff. One swipe is enough to give full color on the lips. For more pigmented lips, one needs two swipes.

Performance:
Freida’s Red is a beautiful fuchsia red color with slight blue tone to it. It looks amazing on medium to dark skin tones but looks like a perfect fuchsia pink on lighter skin tones. These lippies are very comfortable on lips and glide like butter without tugging. These are so creamy that layering does not make it patchy and also hides dry patches. It has mild, vanilla, floral scent which is not overpowering and doesn’t bother me; the scent vanishes after application. This range is the best option for beauties who love to have matte lip color on but have dry lips. There is no need of a lip balm underneath as the lipstick itself is very hydrating.

On initial application, it has slight sheen to it. But after setting, it turns out completely matte in appearance. I have pigmented lips and I feel that this particular shade does not go completely opaque in one swipe. I need to layer it up twice to get complete opacity, though the color is very pigmented. The worst part of this lipstick is that it bleeds or feathers a lot if applied directly to the lips. One needs to have a lip liner underneath in order to avoid the feathering or bleeding.

It has good lasting power, that is for about 6 hours with drinking and snacking. Oily food or heavy meals can break down the products and result in fading of the lip color. As I mentioned before, I layer it twice which makes my lipcolor so long lasting that even with meals it does not fade away completely. It transfer a lot to everything that touches it though. It fades away with a prominent stain on lips which is pro for me.

• No need to use a lip balm underneath, the lipstick itself hydrates the lips

• Mild scent; not overpowering
• All the reds are perfect for Indian skin tones

Cons of L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds Lipstick – 405 Freida’s Red:

• It does transfers a lot
• It bleeds or feathers a lot which I really wasn’t expecting from such a product
• This particular shade doesn’t have complete opacity, especially for pigmented lips
• Availability in India

Would I Repurchase/Recommend L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds Lipstick – 405 Freida’s Red?
These lippies are sort of high maintenance type, but I own two shades from this collection and would definitely purchase other variants as well. These lipsticks are highly recommended for those who love red lip colors.

Summing Up:
Some may find it annoying to put a lip liner underneath it to avoid feathering or bleeding, but still with good staying power and hydrated lips, these are worth trying.
