My Experience with L’Oreal Oleo Therapy Sulfate-Free System Oil Infused Shampoo:

I have previously tried a couple of shampoos and conditioners from the L’Oreal Sulfate-Free System range. Because I have had a great experience with the EverCrème shampoo and conditioner (which I have reviewed on IMBB), I decided to give the OleoTherapy range a shot. I had always been a little wary of oil-infused shampoos because I found them to be somewhat gimmicky. I just wasn’t sure if they cleaned the hair and scalp well enough and really moisturised the hair in the way oil does.

But because I love the sulphate-free range from L’Oreal, I thought it might be worthwhile to try this oil-infused shampoo. I have only used it a couple of times so far. Because of its nourishing properties, I thought the winter season would be a good time to try this one out.

The packaging is a regular tube bottle with a flip cap at the bottom. However, the tube is a translucent one, which helps you see how much product you have got in there.  The shampoo is a clear and slightly yellow tinged one. It is made to resemble the color of oil.  The fragrance is on the milder side. It seems to be a blend of something pleasantly floral but also oil infused. I like the fragrance because it is quite unique. However, it does not really linger in the hair for too long after you have washed it.

L'Oreal Oleo Therapy Sulfate-Free System Oil Infused Shampoo

I think this shampoo lathers a decent amount even though it is sulphate free. It cleans the hair fairly well. However, if you are washing your hair after a few days and have grease, grime and oil on your scalp, then I wouldn’t recommend using only this shampoo. You could use a more deep-cleansing shampoo first to get rid of the grease and any product build-up, and then use this one after. It is certainly not meant to leave your hair squeaky clean.

As far as its nourishment claims are concerned, I don’t find that to be particularly moisturising. It does not really restore or replenish dull, dry or damaged hair. The hair does not feel particularly soft or silky after using this shampoo. It doesn’t make the hair rough or dry, but the oil-infused claim, after all, isn’t very great. You can’t skip conditioner after this shampoo thinking that it’ll make your hair soft and manageable, because it won’t.

Overall, I think that this shampoo is just about okay. I won’t repurchase it. I’m happy to go back to my L’Oreal EverCrème shampoo and conditioner.

Pros of L’Oreal Oleo Therapy Sulfate-Free System Oil Infused Shampoo:

  • Easy to lather.
  • Cleanses hair gently.
  • Sulphate-free; paraben-free; no harsh salts.
  • Mild and pleasant floral fragrance.
  • See-through packaging.

Cons of L’Oreal Oleo Therapy Sulfate-Free System Oil Infused Shampoo:

  • Does not clean hair thoroughly. May not remove grease and product build-up effectively.
  • Not particularly moisturizing or hydrating. Does not make hair silky and soft like it claims.

My Verdict on L’Oreal Oleo Therapy Sulfate-Free System Oil Infused Shampoo:

This is an average shampoo. It may not be harsh or damaging for the hair (because it is sulphate-free). But despite being infused with oil, it does nothing to moisturise my hair or make it softer and silkier.
