L’Oreal Paris #201 Lacque-y Charm Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen Review

Hope all of you are enjoying your day! And as promised, I am here to share my views on my first Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen. If you are a regular IMBB reader, you might be aware of my deep love and passion for L’Oreal lip colors! I am proud owner of beauty products from Guerlain, Giorgio Armani, Bobbi Brown and even La Prairie, but the first love is unforgettable, as they say! And this Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen certainly justified my deep love & connection with this brand. I like their new range so far and really won’t mind getting these pens again and again, especially the shade Lacque-y Charm. So, let’s start the review.

How to Use:
Apply starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to outer edges of your lips, following the contour of your mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris #201 Lacque-y Charm Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen:

The Lip Pen comes in an opaque plastic retractable pen packaging and the color of pen coincides with the respective shade. To my surprise, they have a very familiar vanilla like synthetic smell or let’s just say very L’Oreal smell, which makes me nostalgic at times; I have no issues with its fragrance as such. Overall, I find it pretty handy and user friendly apart from being travel friendly.

The shade ‘Lacque-y Charm’ seems to be a gorgeous, creamy, rosy brown shade in packaging while it comes up as a subtle purple-pink with glossy sheen on my lips. It has fine shimmers which are way subtle and beyond our notice. Even I could not observe shimmers at first and it was only when the lip color faded after hours of wear time, I realized the presence of tiny shimmer particles. I totally love this pinkish purple shade on my skin which more or less resembles my true love Loreal Colour Riche Lipstick 550 Vagabond Mauve! I find it perfect for every pale/light/medium skin tone beauty as I can see how it compliments my pale skin tone with yellow-neutral undertones!

Coming over the texture, it is really creamy and glossy, as they claim. Though I find it slightly tugging initially, it is not something to bother about. It gives perfect glossy creamy gel kind of finish on my lips with no settling in fine lines and/or bleeding. I mean I found that it is not like usual creamy Colour Riche lip colors; it feels way light on my lips with that gel – creamy finish, even it is not much glossy. I find it more or less similar to lip pencils from many high end brands and this one can definitely be compared to those.

It is intensely pigmented and gives full coverage with just 2-3 swipes without looking cakey or flaky even on my dry lips. Its creamy and glossy sheen, it stays put for good 5+ hours in my case even with mild snacking and meals in between. It does fade a little after 6-8 hours leaving behind pretty pink lip stain which does not require touch ups as it looks fine on its own. It is pretty clear that this shade is perfect for everyone including beauties with pigmented lips provided they are ready for touch ups once the color fades.

I don’t find it hydrating on its own like usual Colour Riche Lipsticks, but I does not dry up the lips either. If you have scrubbed your lips well prior using this lip color, there is no chance it will accentuate or highlight any lip flaws, to be honest!

Overall, I am really impressed with this La Lacque Lip Pen! It is pigmented enough to conceal our minor lip flaws, it is glossy and creamy enough to stay put on lips for good 6-8 hours with mild snacking, it gives a really smooth and even finish, and medium to intense color pay off with one or two swipes. What else should we expect from a budget friendly lip pen? I won’t mind getting it again & again and I am sure once you try it,  you will love it too!

Pros of L’Oreal Paris #201 Lacque-y Charm Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen:

• A lightweight, shimmery and creamy lip color
• Rosy brown shade with subtle hint of purple undertones and shimmers
• Intensely pigmented to deliver good color pay off with just 2-3 swipes
• Does not settle into lip lines or look cakey
• Gives very smooth, even finish on lips without being frosty or icy even with the presence of shimmers
• Stays put for good 5+ hours, after that fading into light pink stain on my lips
• Survives snacks and meals
• Does not dry out the lips, though it is not hydrating either
• Gives a picture perfect finish on well scrubbed and soft lips (tried & tested)
• Suitable for even pigmented lips
• Quite user friendly and travel friendly

Cons of L’Oreal Paris #201 Lacque-y Charm Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen:

• The pen feels like it’s tugging on lips, not dramatically though
• Wish more shades were available in this range (only five are there at the moment)
• Has a kind of artificial smell

Other than these minute cons, I don’t see anything negative about the product. I am really impressed with this shade and would love to get it again & again. L’Oreal definitely deserves a praise for launching these dupes for famous high end lip pens and I wish they come up with more shades than just these five.
