I am going to review an unconventional kohl shade today- silver. Well, I bought L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Khôl in Frosted Silver because I had never used silver kohl before and wanted to try out the colour. Read on to see how it fared.

My take on L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Khôl in Frosted Silver:

Packaging:

The kohl pencil is a wooden sharpen-able pencil with a transparent cap. These pencils are colour-coded, i.e., their body is of the same colour as the kohl. The shade name is written at the bottom of the pencil. The silver body of the kohl with a thick golden stripe near the tip, is eye-catching and looks beautiful.

Shade, Texture and Pigmentation:

“Frosted silver” is a beautiful dark silver kohl with minute shimmer particles which only add to the beauty of this colour. I was not very sure how the colour would look on my eyes but it looks awesome on my eyes, I feel.

The texture of this kohl is smooth. It is neither too hard nor too creamy. It glides on like butter without pulling and tugging. This particular shade, being on the lighter side of the scale, does not blend much.

A single swipe does not give that kind of an intense colour which you expect from a liner. Thus, it needs multiple swipes to build the proper look and can be said to have buildable pigmentation. It will suit all skin tones, particularly dusky beauties.

It stays on for around 1-1.5 hours on my water line as I have extremely watery eyes. On my upper lash line (I have normal eyelids, neither dry nor oily), it lasts around 2-3 hours naturally and longer if set with a silvery eye-shadow. So its lasting power is average. This liner is not smudge-proof. It also vanishes if eyes are rubbed frequently. It does not irritate my eyes at all when applied on my lower waterline as kohl. It is easily removable using makeup remover.

Being a sharpen-able product, sharpening does leads to wastage. It also becomes difficult to get a smooth tip after sharpening and might require extra sharpening to get a manageable tip leading to further wastage. The tip being smooth and crumbly might also suffer from breakage if not sharpened carefully.

• Pigmentation is not satisfactory
• Need multiple swipes to build the colour.
• Poor staying power.
• Tip is prone to breakage
• Sharpening leads to wastage
• Not smudge-proof
• Disappears on rubbing of eyes

Will I recommend/repurchase L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Khôl in Frosted Silver ?

I am sorry to say this liner did not meet my expectations on various fronts. So I would not recommend it. At this price range, there are various brand that offer better silver liners. The other shades in the range might be better but being a light shade, it lacks in several areas.I would definitely not repurchase it.
