L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Khol in Urban Grey

Hello Beauties,

Today I am here with a review of my first grey kohl/ eyeliner. Seriously I didn’t had any of the grey colored liners before, as I was not sure that how they would appear on me. But I was really pleased with this shade which is neither very bright metallic grey nor a lighter shade of blue. It’s just the perfect grey I was looking for. Let’s continue with the review.

Details: In 4 beautiful, wearable shades with a luxurious, intense formula combining oil and wax, Color Riche Le Khôl softly glides over the eyelid allowing you to achieve a long-lasting and intense colour result. Ophthalmologic ally tested, Color Riche Le Khôl is easily removed with a standard make-up remover.

Price: INR 375 for 1.6 g.

Packaging: The liner comes in a good quality sharpen-able wooden pencil, with a transparent cap, the body of the pencil is of the same color of the liner, fully color coded, and it has a golden stripe on the top side of the pencil, which really gives it a classy feel, really adds glamour to the monotone packaging. All over the packaging is nice, sleek and handy. The tip has the tendency to crumble and break easily each time you sharpen it, hence there is lot of product wastage, which I really don’t like.

My take on L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Khol in Urban Grey:

Shade, Texture and Pigmentation: “Urban grey” is a nice charcoal grey color, really toned down gray with silver sheen to it, very minuscule shimmers not really visible, anyone can carry this kind of shade. It’s not matte completely in terms. As I mentioned above it’s just not a lighter shade of black or blue, neither a metallic silver gray shade, it’s really apt for everyday wear for any kind of skin tone, especially those who don’t prefer jet black liners.

I won’t score the texture of this pencil really high, but it just got the perfect texture, not super duper creamy, but yes soft and smooth enough to glide easily on eyes, without pulling or tugging. It’s easily blendable, apt to create a smoky eye look. I wouldn’t say that the liner gives the intense, bold line of color in a single swipe but the pigmentation is good to buildable, the liner can be easily layered on for more intense color. In mine case 3 swipes were needed to get that full color on eyes.

Staying Power: The liner didn’t pass with full marks in any of the qualities I expected from it. Though it doesn’t set dry completely, but manages to stay put for 3 – 3.5 hours on my upper lids and on waterline it stays only for 1- 1.5 hour, after that it smudges badly, if you don’t rub your eyes vigorously it’ll surely last for few more hours. The liner is not smudge proof or touch proof; it will go off easily by rubbing. But I found safe to use it on my waterline.

Pros of L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Khol in Urban Grey:

• A very nice perfect charcoal gray color.
• Really apt for every skin tone and every day wear.
• Packaging looks very pretty and attractive.
• Texture is just okay, not very creamy smooth or rough in texture.
• Glides pretty much smoothly on lids.
• Really safe to use on waterline as well, won’t sting or irritate eyes.
• Pigmentation is not superb but yes good and easily buildable.
• A liner which doesn’t sets dry, but manages to stay decently on upper lids.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Khol in Urban Grey:

• Not really satisfied with the texture, pigmentation or staying power for the price and a L’Oreal product, they are better to wear as shadows only.
• Avoid wearing it on the waterline, as it smudges and spreads badly, and also have poor staying power.
• The liner is really crumbly and prone to breakage, too much of product wastage is there and still you won’t get that perfect tip.
• Need 2-3 swipes to show up the color on lids.

Recommendation: I didn’t hate the product, its good compared to some eye pencil. It’s a simple creamy liner, which you would love to wear, may be because of the shade or texture. If you like the shade, there is no harm in trying this range atleast once.

  1. Hey, nice one, Supriya! Looks so pretty on you! 🙂 I had always assumed that grey liners would not suit Indian skintones, but your eotd has convinced me that it is definitely worth a try! Nice review! 🙂
