L’Oreal Paris Evercreme Cleansing Conditioner Review

By Revathy Ramachandran

Hi everyone!

Today, I will be reviewing the cleansing conditioner I have been using from L’Oreal Paris’s Hair Expertise Collection – EverCrème Sulfate-Free Moisture System Cleansing Conditioner. Another mouthful ;).

Product Description:

EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner is an innovative, gentle way to cleanse and condition in one simple step. Ultra concentrated conditioning power for ultimate moisture and shine.

  • Sulfate-Free formula helps preserve hair’s natural moisture.
  • Low-lathering creme thoroughly cleanses while reducing friction on the hair fiber to help minimize breakage.
  • Triple action conditioning formula, with Omega-3 & 6, leaves hair soft and controlled.
  • 100% Vegan – Formula not tested on animals, no animal by-products.

Price:

$6.99 for a 8.3 Fl. oz. (245 ml) bottle

Ingredients:

Notably, no silicones! Has Camelina seed oil, Apricot kernel oil and Grape seed oil as natural ingredients, though not very high up on the list.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Evercreme Cleansing Conditioner:

The product comes in a slim bottle with a pump (yay!).  Compact while storing in your shower caddy. It has a twist lock that makes it great to travel with.  The pump squirts out a small amount which is yellowish-brown and very thick, like soft wax. The first thing to hit you is the smell. It has a STRONG smell, overtly vanilla plus burnt sugar. It definitely takes a little getting used to. I read somewhere that the smell is due to the camelina oil. The smell fades out of the shower and lingers as a pleasant scent in the hair all day!

I have curly, frizzy-ended and dry hair, prone to split ends.  I had chopped off my waist-length hair into a cropped bob in high school, and have been trying to grow it back out ever since. This would be great for those with dry, curly hair who don’t like to suds up while shampooing!

How To Use It: Thoroughly drench hair with water. Take 5-6 pumps in your hands and use your fingertips to massage it on your scalp. Take another 2-3 pumps for the lengths of your hair, this amount will vary. Start sudsing up (it lathers a little, but will rinse out clean). Make sure to get it all out. Hair feels clean and soft in the shower, and once it dries remains shiny and frizz-free!It’s important to optimize the right amount for the type/length of your hair.  It wasn’t using enough the first few times. In my experience, using more has never dried out my hair too much. The bottle has lasted me 4 months now, even though I have learnt to use a large amount with each use. It’s a good feeling to be free to wash without fear of drying out your curls and looking like Hagrid!

Pros of L’Oreal Paris Evercreme Cleansing Conditioner:

  • Sulfate free. Excellent alternative to using SLS loaded shampoos that ruin hair. It really is a gentle cleaner.
  • Hair is softer, smoother and clean without becoming frizzy. Definitely moisturizes hair, some days, I skip conditioner afterwards.
  • It does prevent my hair from drying out and has improved hair health, allowing me to grow it out.
  • Easy to travel with.
  • Comparatively inexpensive for the amount of product. Easily available at drugstores in US.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Evercreme Cleansing Conditioner:

  • Not many drawbacks if what you want is a cleansing conditioner (and can overlook the smell)!
  • STRONG smell. Sigh.
  • Not suited for hair that gets oily easily.
  • Availability in India.

Will I Repurchase L’Oreal Paris Evercreme Cleansing Conditioner?

Yup! It’s my default co-wash. I may try another variety if they launch the same with a different fragrance and maybe a creamy texture.
