Hey there!

As a kid, I was dusky. My complexion resembled Deepika Padukone but all that changed once I joined Tennis classes. *sighs*

At the age of 10, I decided that I could no longer limit myself to the back alleys of the National Stadium (my bro played Tennis there when I was younger, so obviously I tagged along) and undertook some rigorous training. Unfortunately, this took a huge toll on my skin and I tanned more with each passing day. Initially, no one bothered but gradually with my darkening tan my mom got scared.

She tried her best to make me stop the classes, but the stubborn mule that I was, I continued, undaunted. My mother, growing more exasperated with each passing day could just watch from the sidelines. Then one day, I started getting rashes on my upperlip and undereye regions. This was when my mom put her foot down and forbade me from Tennis classes. Dejected that I was, I also understood the need and gradually my rashes faded away and were forgotten. But after those classes, every Summer I got those ghastly rashes that eventually caused permanent dark circles and pigmentation around my mouth.

One fine day, at the age of 14, I was diagnosed with a sun allergy. I was flabbergasted! Was that even possible? My dermatologist assured me that it was, and prescribed a medicinal sunscreen which worked for a summer. But after that, it stopped and made my oil glands overactive. This lead to my quest for a HG sunscreen.

I have tried, drugstore, mid ranged and even high ended sunscreens, but nothing has left me as amazed as this one. This is without a doubt, the best sunscreen I have ever used!

Price: 325 INR (I got a 1+1 offer too!)

Quantity: 120 ml

Packaging: It is a simple white “squeezy” bottle with a bright coloured orange cap that is functional, if not attractive. Everything on it is written in French. All I could manage to understand is that “Anti-Rides Solaire” means Anti-Aging Sunscreen.

How is sun exposure affecting us?

Premature Aging: UV rays break down collagen structure in our skin which is actually holding firm our skin.

Dark spots: These develop on face, hands or other parts of the body. Hyper pigmentation caused by sun exposure can lead to two-toned skin as well.

Skin damage: Over exposure can cause further damage by killing skin cells. Repeated skin damage can even cause cancer.

My take on L’Oreal Paris Sunscreen SPF 60:

This sunscreen is truly magic! It is the one product that has worked amazingly well for me, for the past 2 years. Coming from a person suffering from a severe Sun allergy, I have no doubt that this product will work wonders with those with normal sunscreen needs too.
It is soft and easily absorbed by the skin. You don’t feel like that your skin is excessively oily, or matte for that matter.

There is a slight whitish cast that appears on application but that disappears in a few moments and leaves your skin soft and supple. Like every other sunscreen, this one too has to be reapplied periodically for optimum efficiency. I like to apply it every 2-3 hours, and this works brilliantly for me.

It is relatively inexpensive, for the price and quantity offered. One tube is easily enough for one whole summer!

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Sunscreen SPF 60:

1. Everything on this bottle is in French, it’s like Latin to me! *sobs*
2. Not easily available in Delhi. (maybe you Mumbaikars will fare better here)
3. Periodic reapplication is required.
4. I can’t shed light on the anti-aging claims. (perhaps they wish to pre-empt signs of aging caused due to sun damage? O.o)

Will I repurchase?

Hell yes! I will snag as many as I can!

Will I recommend to friends?
