Loreal Professional Volume Expand Shampoo

Hi everyone,

Today i shall be reviewing a shampoo from the professional range of Loreal. My Loccitane shampoo for dry and damaged hair is nearing its end so I thought I shall try something else. Though in no way I am unhappy with the Loccitane one just like a curious little child who wanted to break the monotony ordered the Loreal shampoo from an e commerce site. Read on further to find out about the product:

Product being reviewed: Loreal Professional Volume Expand Shampoo

Price/ Packaging/ Quantity: INR 500 for 250 ml. It comes in a pista green coloured plastic bottle. The bottle is opaque so you can not make out how much quantity is left behind. There is a silver coloured scre cap which also has a flip cap. The nozzle at the top dispenses the shampoo with the right amount of pressure.

What the product claims:
Get maximum volume for fine hair with L’Oréal Professionnel série expert Volume Expand Shampoo. This volumising shampoo helps to lift the hair, boost volume, and add shine and vitality.

Loreal Professional Volume Expand Shampoo

L’Oréal Professional série expert Volume Expand Shampoo is specially formulated with mineral calcium to give your fine hair added body and bounce for enhanced volume. This shampoo boosts your hair’s volume from the roots and transforms fine fly away hair into full beautiful soft, shiny hair.

Ingredients:

Aqua/ Wateer. Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Calcium Carbonate, Kaolin, Sodium Chloride, Coca Mide Mipa, acrylates Copolymer, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Methyl Paraben, Phenoxyethanol, DMDM Hydantoin, Limonene, NIacinamide, Citric Acid, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Methylparaben, PEI-35, Hydrolysed Wheat Protein, Citronellol, Methyl Cocoate, 2-Oleamido-1,3 Octadecanediol, Sodium Cocoate, Hydrolysed Wheat Starch,Parfum Fragrance.

My experience with the product:
I feel I have the most typical hair type in the world ,i have dry and fine hair, scalp is oily, they are curly, frizzy , have split ends and seem rough. In short they are damaged . :(  I tried the Body Shop rainforest moisturising shampoo but that kind of weighed down my hair and my hair used to look flat on the very next day of washing. So this time I tried the volume expand shampoo from Loreal . It is a white coloured shampoo which has a very thick consistency. I had to mix it with water to dilute it a bit. It lathers really well and you get the feeling that the scalp is clean, two washes shall be needed if you oil your hair. Volumising shampoos are supposed to be a bit drying and this one is no exception.During washing only, I could feel the dryness , yes they did not feel smooth at all. I paired it up with the Loccitane Conditioner for dry and damaged hair and my hair felt allright. I must add that it does live upto its claim of adding volume. My hair seemed full and wavy and I loved the bounce and the volume, though there was no shine in my hair. Please note that the volumising shampoo can only give an illusionary affect of volume to the hair, so do not expect it to grow hair on your scalp. It has a very mild fragrance which does not stay for very long. Also I did not experience any hair fall with this shampoo.

Loreal Professional Volume Expand Shampoo
Summarising the pros and cons:
Pros of Loreal Professional Volume Expand Shampoo

1. Does what it claims i.e. adds volume to the hair.
2. Less quantity is needed since it is very thick in consistency water needs to be added to dilute it.

Cons of Loreal Professional Volume Expand Shampoo
1. Makes the hair dry, so has to be used in combination with a good conditioner or a hair mask.
2. Has SLS as one of the ingredients. :(
3. Does not add any shine to the hair.
4. Contains parabens

IMBB Rating
3.85 out of 5

Final Verdict: If you have straight , limp, fine hair, definitely this shampoo ( along with a good conditioner) is worth a try but I would not recommend it for extra dry hair.
