Lotus Herbals Anti Tan Sunblock SPF 30 PA +++ Review

Lotus Herbals Anti Tan SPF 30 Sunscreen

Price Rs 170 for 50 gm

Claims : A sunblock especially formulated to lighten the skin and provide the highest (sun-tan causing) UVA protection with PA+++(i.e. maximum UVA protection), the Skin Lightening Anti-Tan Sunblock protects the skin against all forms of UV damage like Tanning, Sunburns, Wrinkles, Pre-Mature Ageing & Cancer and promises a supple, younger-looking and more importantly an even-toned complexion.

Directions for use : Apply liberally and evenly on face and exposed parts of the body (neck, arms, legs, etc.) before exposure to sun. Re-apply frequently.

Active ingredients : Lime Blossom and Kiwi extracts.

Ingredients:

Lotus Herbals Anti Tan SPF 30 Sunscreen Ingredients

What I like about Lotus Herbals Anti tan Sunblock SPF 30 :

  • I like the consistency of this sunblock. It has a little runny consistency so it gets absorbed quickly without leaving any whitish cast behind. It does not feel heavy on skin at all.
  • This does not make my face sweaty after applying.
  • Smells pretty decent, just like all Lotus sunscreens.
  • I use it even on my body an it gets absorbed very quickly.
  • Comes in a flip top cap tube so it is easier to carry around.

What I don’t like about Lotus Herbals Anti Tan Sunblock SPF 30

  • It completely fails as a sunscreen / sunblock or an anti tan sunblock. Apply this 20 minutes before stepping out in the sun and comeback with a full tan. :pissedoff: . Although I have to say that it does protect me from  sunburns but when it comes to protection from sun tan- a complete failure for me.

Other than this I have had no issues with this sunblock. I did not pick this up for skin lightening. The shop keeper did not have a stock of any other sunscreen that day so I got this. It did not work for me at all. Everytime I have used this and gone out in sun, I have come back with such a bad tan. I almost finished using it on days when i know I don’t have to step out much.

It may be a decent product for winters but for summers, I don’t think I am ever going back for this one.

Hawwwwww..how come it didn’t work for sun protection????er…I bought the Lotus Anti-tan block of SPF 40 with carrots something like that and it works wonderfully well for me..I didn’t even get any redness, forget the tan under scorching sun for hours…and its consistency is also very very thick..How come it is soo runny on your hand??????????

Reply

calicoaster May 6, 2011 at 10:47 am

The only problem with the one I have is that it smells very bad..like burnt plastic or burnt rubber!! :| :| :| Otherwise, it is very very effective…

Reply

Ankita May 6, 2011 at 11:11 am

Cali I know which you’re talking about…it was quite thick and sticky. I used to use that when I used to go for swimming cos it was the waterproof one. but i think it was the berry one I used, not the carrot one. Give the spray one a try. Its SPF 50 and the consistency is quite runny but it is the best sunscreen I’ve used in terms of protection!!

Rati May 6, 2011 at 11:10 am

I really like that PSF 40 one cali. It has that little tint also no.. used to wok great for my skin. i got the SPF 50 spray . it’s quite nice and light. :))

Reply

calicoaster May 6, 2011 at 11:13 am

hmmmm…The carrot one is a little sticky while applying, but it just vanishes off within seconds giving a matte finish..so me likes it!! :D :D I tried searching for spray here…couldn’t find it!! :( The reason why I ended up with that SPF 40 one..though no regrets…khikhikhi..That SA said there are no Lotus sprays mam..and I said :loser: go and check your company’s catalogue thoroughly before stating your dumb opinions …. :P :P :P

Reply

calicoaster May 6, 2011 at 11:14 am

Correction she said – “Lotus doesn’t produce any sprays mam, probably you are finding it for some other brand” :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: I hate their smugness!!!

Hey, I am sorry it did not work for your :(
I feel the Neutrogena one is very good. The only thing is that most of the time I forget to put in on. Thankfully my Neutrogena Moisturiser has 15 spf.

Always had a good experience with Lotus sunscreens..this is the first time I’m hearing that it didn’t work! I’ve used 3-in-matte and I loved it. More recently picked up the spray one SPF 50 and it is AWESOME!! I went to Water Kingdom in that -> 4-5 hours in the sun in chlorinated water and I did not get tanned at all.
@Rati : I got Aroma magic mineral glow scrub at Beauty Centre, Khar. I’ve used it twice now and it is so great! Made my skin really soft and supple.

Preeti, there’s an amazingly cheap option for you- it’s called ‘umbrella’. O:)

Reply

Ankita May 6, 2011 at 12:47 pm

Preeti you can try the spray one from Lotus. It has SPF 50. My arms get tanned too and I used the spray one and I did not get tanned at all. I’ve also used Vaseline lightening triple sunscreen body lotion and it works well too. For the face, Lotus 3-in-1 matte or spray one is quite good.

Hey Rati/Cali,

I too am using Lotus with SPF 30, but looks like I am developing a tan too, in spite of using a sun screen. So what would you gals suggest the spay SPF 50 or SPF 40 tube?
I have combi – oily skin.
HELP PLEASE!!!

Reply

 seeems like all these SPF 30 Lotus creams have some problem….I use Lotus’s Anti tan SPF 40 with carrots as active ingredient, and it works quite well for my oily/combi skin. You can give it a try…donno about spray…Rati has got it..so she can tell!! :)
