My Experience with Lotus Make-Up Ruby Red Colorstylo Chubby Lip Color:

Let’s begin with the packaging of the product. The crayon comes packed in a beautiful white and pink cardboard packaging. The outer packaging has lip-shaped cut out, which looks quite girly. The lip crayon has a typical color coded body, which is makes this crayon easy to spot. The crayon comes with a frosty clear cap, which looks quite flimsy. The cap fits nicely and does not come off. The crayon has a regular twist up mechanism, which works pretty smoothly. The tip of the crayon remains outside, so I have to be a little careful while placing the cap. The crayon bears the shade name along with some other details on sticker at its base. Overall, the packaging is fine and travel friendly.

The shade “Ruby Red” is a gorgeous bright red shade. This will suit fair to medium dusky skin tones pretty well. The shade is bright and not for weak hearted people. It gives an instant pop of color to the overall look. This is surely a gorgeous bridal shade for this coming wedding season. Thanks to Lotus for not adding shimmers in it. The lip crayon is amazingly pigmented. One swipe is good enough to give a perfect red finish and hide all the pigmentation. You may require a second swipe to even out the edges. Layering does not cause any creasing or patchy finish. The color actually hugs the lips well and the color does not feel like sitting on the lips. The color is easily buildable. The crayon is scented, it has a sweet candy like fragrance.

Texture wise, the crayon is very creamy. It is smooth and gives an effortless gliding experience. There is no dragging of the lips. It feels light and comfortable on the lips. The formula is very moisturizing, so it is definitely a great pick for people with dry lips. It keeps my lips moisturized for some hours but at the end of the day, my lips start feeling dry. Being very creamy in terms of texture, it surely transfers so much, which is quite embarrassing. There is a slight smudging of this lip color after meals. So, it is not smudge proof.

The color lasts for approx. 4-5 hours on my lips. Reapplication is required after 4-5 hours. The brand claims it to be a long lasting lip color but I did not find its staying power to be super impressive. It looks very glossy initially and sets to a semi-matte finish after 1-2 hours. The color easily fades away evenly after meals leaving a stain behind. I personally do not like the stain and prefer instant reapplication. The stain looks quite cheap. It becomes a task to remove this stain. A good oil-based make up remover is required to take it off completely. I normally use baby oil to remove lip colors. Overall, the shade is pretty, quality is fine but its staying power could have been better.
