MAC Coppertone Blush Review, FOTD + An Introduction to MAC Blushes

An Introduction to MAC Blushes + MAC Coppertone Blush Review

I went MAC blush shopping with a few friends the other day. One my friends “R” wanted blush, foundation and a whole lot of make-up basics. We hit MAC first and foremost where she picked up Studio Tech. When we asked for blushes, the MUA suggested peaches but we all thought it looked too muddy on her. Another friend suggested we try drugstore brands because its fun to play around with blushes so why bother with such a mid-high end brand like MAC. Unfortunately all drugstore brands were selling only shimmer bronzers (summer here) and we couldn’t find a single pink toned blush that wasn’t shimmer. We ran back to MAC, only this time we tried some amazing pinky shades and my friend finally picked up the shade fleur power. Now unfortunately this is not a review for fleur power 😛

Right so my point was that it doesn’t always make sense to spend so much money on a high end blush. Especially since you get some really amazing blushes for a whole lot less. But there are a few things a high end blush can give you that a drugstore brand can’t. The first being a wider shade selection, especially with MAC. The second being a variety of finishes, the availability of which will not change with the seasons. MAC actually has blushes with 5 different finishes available at all times, Frost, Satin, Sheertone ( which goes on sheer), and Sheertone shimmer ( I think the names are pretty self explanatory no?)

There is one more shade but I just liked how perfect this grid looked 😛 So out of all the 36 shades, most of which are available all year round, you should probably find something to suit just about every skin tone.
The Blush I am going to murder today is one that Rati swatched a few months ago – MAC Coppertone. If you’ve read some earlier articles on IMBB, this is the shade Vimi Joshi mentions as one of the must have blushes for Indian skin tones. Mickey Contractor mentions another shade called Gingerly. I’ve used both blushes, while Coppertone is a matte blush, Gingerly is a Sheertone blush and I’ve used both and I find both shades to be more or less the same, only Coppertone is stronger and Gingerly goes on a bit a sheer. But that’s my experience…. So take it with a pinch of salt guys 😀

As you can see that MAC Coppertone on the website looks remarkably different from the actual product. Now this is a fairly dark shade, I picked it up when I was a MAC NC42. Now I am an NC 35 and for a while I was having a bit of trouble with this blush as it made my skin look a bit muddy, so I started contouring with it instead. I’ve tanned a lil bit over the past week, not enough to change my foundation shade but enough to lose the pale whiteness so when I put the blush on today, this worked like a dream 😀

This is a swatch of the Coppertone blush, It’s a lovely peachy brown color that really would suit Indian skin, especially those on the medium to darker side ….

The second picture isn’t me but my scary zombie alter ego. The blush was showing up way more better on her cheeks so I had to use her picture. Please do not get confused, that person is not me.

  • Coppertone gives that beautiful blushy glow that looks totally natural without looking OTT. Then of course there is the beautiful matte finish which makes it the perfect daily wear/office blush.
  • I have acne prone oily skin and this has never made me break out so yay 😀
  • I love the color, I love the matte finish.
  • The only times Coppertone blush has failed me is when I lost my tan but that my fault, can’t blame the blush for that.
  • Of course we always come down to big Issue – the price. So this time all I am going to say is – If it is in your budget, please do give it a look at the very least, the shade and consistency is to die for. If this isn’t in your budget then no biggie, the world of blushes is not limited to one company, and don’t we all know it ! 😀

Will I re-purchase MAC Coppertone Blush? Definitely (if I ever end up finishing this pan)

  2. Coppertone is indeed a gorgeous shade . the only reason i never picked it up was because I already have bronzers in my collection. It gives a similar effect on my face.

You were NC 42 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 You have become a vampire after going to Australia : :vampire: :vampire: :vampire: :vampire: :vampire: :vampire: :vampire: :vampire:

    1. :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: :struggle: I know :pain: So can you imagine, for weeks I didnt realise I had turned into a vampire n was wearing :pain: the wrong shade, until mother kindly pointed it out, and when I realised she was right I was sooo embarassed :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain:

Yeah I can imagine bronzers might give a similar effect …. but that hint of peach in the shade makes all the difference 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛

          1. you is el loco :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized:

I can imagine – peaches would suit a lot of indian skin tones and maybe lighten up coppertone … my friend is super fair + not Indian so Peaches just looked horrid on her.

If I had access to Gingerly I wouldve so done a review on it and a comparison of the two – to me is like Coppertone’s subtler cousin 😛 😛

    1. Its an amazing pink with a hint of peach – it totally brightens the face up. But it is more on the pink side …. Coppertone has a tendency to be a bit dull on anyone who is on the fairer side :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( super sucks

    1. Thank you Rima – Yes the 2nd person is not me, we look remarkably similiar though na 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛

The Sheertone blushes are beautiful – they give this amazing hint of color without being too in your face :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

  3. thats a very nice and informative post janhavi!!!!!!! i really needed an intro to mac blushes…so its easy to visit the store and find what i like. and also i was looking for a peachy browny blush and there you are doing a post!

  5. I have heard so much abt coppertone….u did not exactly murder it…lol. 🙂 I just got my first branded blush- Maybellien Peach stain & I guess it’ll be sometime before I buy another one. But Mac blushes sound so exciting.
You did not mention how much do these beauties cost ?

    1. Ratidooooo help here please – I think there are for somewhere around 1120 Rs but I could be mistaken – Its a lot of money to pay for just a blush- for sure but a. its a HUGE amount 2. Quality 3. Range of shades :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

  6. ahhhh I have heard so much about this blush! And I was thinking about getting this one recently! I’m an NC42 too so this should suit me just fine! By the way, you’re in Aussie? I live in NZ 🙂

  7. Si Si – In Melbourne – So annoyed at all the dirty yucky shimmery bronzers available now – not to mention all the fake tans – half the MUA’s at Myer and David Jones were Orange !!!! :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain:

Do give it a try – this looks great on NC 42 skin, better than it does on me right now at any rate …. 😀

  8. 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛

  9. Awww u look so good in he pics Jahnavi.NOt zombie like jst pissed off at photographer for clickin pic at wrong time :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :silly: :silly: :silly: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Wouldn’t this work more as a bronzer?? I always thought of peachy, pinky and coral-brown shades as blush??? Hep me here I am a complete noob

  10. Aww thank you Sharon – unfortunately the photographer was moi :pain: so Zombie it is 😛

This does work as a bronzer but its a bit too on the peachy/red side to be like an AWESOME bronzer, it might just do the job but its not like what its best for. However I was using it as a bronzer for a while (when I was like all yucky and pale). For someone with mid-toned to dusky complexion this is a great blush, not a bronzer ….. and its the right shade so it makes it look just like someone made you blush au naturelle

  11. I’ve never used a brown blush…only mauves, peaches and pinks :-(( I’m so non-adventurous!!
You look uber cute, but why are you so pissed off in the second pic 😛
And lucky you tannning n all while the rest of us freeze our backsides!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker: :snicker:

  12. me no happy tanning -need to buy sunscreen – havent been in the sun in 3 yrs so im going red instead of happy indian style tanning :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-((

you know I’ve only once you used a nice pink blush – brown blushes are the safest so its ironic you think you are unadventurous – I havnt even tried on a mauve blush !!!

And im not pissed off – that isnt me Devie – its my crazy zombie alter ego – grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: 😛

  13. I don’t like much shimmer on my face…..feel kind of awkward…..feel like the world is concentrating on my shimmer…you went from NC42 to 35 ?:-) ?:-)
