MAC Dark Side Lipstick Review, Swatches
Today I’m going to review the very first product I got from MAC, “The Dark Side” Lipstick. Its an amplified cream lipstick.
Where did I buy that : I got a chance to go to Macy’s during my official US trip and was so happy to see a MAC counter there(A brand highly recommended by my manager. So sweet of her.. 
). When you call it make-up , the first thing that came to my mind at that time was lip-sticks 
. As I had gone there with a family friend (guy) I didn’t want to spend much time choosing the shade .. I just asked the MUA to help me out and she picked the Lipstick in “Dark Side” and a complementing Lip gloss(forgotten the name). I just tried it on my hands and picked it (Donno for what reason on this earth I did that 
..)..
I use make-up occasionally (2-3 yrs back) and that too never loud. “Dark Side” is a deep burgundy colour. I was super excited and tried it as soon as I reached my hotel. I was shocked to see how dark the colour looked on my lips(I was so stupid, not to make out from the name :’()

What I like about MAC Dark Side Lipstick
1. Very creamy. You can wear it on its own without a lip balm
2. Doesn’t fade so easily. The shine might reduce after a couple of hours , but the color stays .
3. It doesn’t settle in the lines of the lip(I have a lil deeper lines).
4. It doesn’t dry out the lips.
What I don’t like about MAC Dark Side Lipstick
1.The shade. It is way too dark for me (I was not able to carry it)
2. I felt it made me look older than I’m. General problem I face with dark shades
3. Need to line the lip to avoid the color from bleeding.
Would I recommend it :
If you are game for dark shade and can easily carry them, then you can give it a try. Else stay away from it. Though I would recommend you to try in store before buying (to avoid regretting like me )
Learning from this : Never buy a lipstick before trying it on your lips

you have sucha beautiful \cupid’s bow shaped mouth! the colour is pretty, but i agree ab the ageing effects of dark colours… have you tried wearing it as a lip stain underneath a gloss?

hmmm nice crisp review Karpagam!! :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: You can still use the lipstick by just dabbing it on your lips and blending with a gloss..That gives the hint of the color to your lips without looking OTT!! …Me do that always with my dark and bright lippis!!

that’s what i do too especially with my red lippies. I apply it slightly with a finger & it looks like a lovely stain

You can make this work by changing the application technique.. Instead of a quick swipe, try dabbing the lipstick in gentle and quick strokes.. It will tone down the colour!!!

You car try mixing it with some other lighter shade such that it gets toned down and top it up with gloss…i do it with my dark shades

I love the shade, one hell of a gutsy one that. Combine it with a nice tomato red, or a baby pink colour or a matte beige to lighten it. The tomato red and burgundy will give you a fun combo that will make your lips pop..
