Oh my God, it feels so weird typing to you guys again because it has been FOREVER since I have been able to post a review. Not a day went by that I did not think and yearn for IMBB though, so as busy as I was I left my heart here with this website for sure! I have come back with a fantastic product though and what is even better is that this is my first ever sponsored product for IMBB so thank you guys sooo much for giving me this wonderful opportunity! My Experience with MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Softening Lotion:
This is a product that has been so raved about in the makeup and beauty community that I knew it would be my first choice of a product, if ever I had a chance to do a sponsored product. With its new packaging, it looks even more psychedelic and attractive, so I was really happy to get my hands on this softening lotion which helped cut down time in my everyday beauty regime. This product is tested on animals so if any of you are against that kind of thing, you might as well stop right here.
Let me just get the negatives of this product out of the way first. Due to the amount you get, this marine bright softening lotion is not an airplane cabin-friendly product as no airline will let you carry a 150 ml of liquid product on board. Also for some reason, the screw off top of this bottle is extremely heavy which was an attempt to make the product very sturdy, I think. Regardless, this makes the bottle very bulky and heavy to carry in your purse even if you are not flying somewhere, so travelling with this bottle in your purse is not possible, you will need to transfer this into a small, secure and leak proof travel safe bottle for use. So now that we have talked about the only negative that I could think of, let us move on to the amazing aspects of this product.
You know when you wash your face and then you have to apply your cotton wool soaked with toner to your skin and then wait for it to dry and be absorbed into your skin before you moisturise? Well, this softening lotion simplifies that whole process into one step. This product works as a toner and moisturiser combined! I stumbled across it on the blogosphere when I was looking for a good toner for my skin and I can confirm all statements regarding this clear looking fluid that not only does it tone, but it really does moisturise your skin as well! Most toners leave your skin feeling dry, especially the Clinique ones which are full of alcohol and are a big no-no anyway. This one however leaves your skin feeling so supple that you definitely do not need to moisturise afterwards. The big plus is that any skin type can use this, but it does contain some fragrance, so people with extremely sensitive skin should avoid this.
The ingredients in this product too are fabulous and it is one of those products that has the right mix of soothing agents to calm any redness on your skin along with all the antioxidants your skin needs. It also contains repairing ingredients which help strengthen the skin’s barrier function, so you avoid getting blackheads, whiteheads and pimples. It also has vitamin C which claims to lighten dark spots on your skin, but I do not have any such spots, so I cannot tell you if it really does help with those. Many women say that they have noticed a huge reduction in their dark spots with using this product though, but I can say that my face just generally looks clearer and brighter.
The instructions also say to use this product by applying it with cotton wool, but I felt like this method made me waste a lot of product because the cotton absorbs it too, right? So, I feel that the best way to use this is to pour a few drops onto your palm and then apply with your finger to your face and neck. Just remember to wash your hands before you do so because you do not want dirty, gunky fingers spreading this magical fluid all over your face.
With the use of this, I have seen my skin get so much better! My skin is soft and bouncy with every use and it looks happy. I have noticed fewer blackheads too which is a huge plus! I think it will work even more effectively in the winter time because in the summer my face just starts sweating once my day starts and I feel like I sweat it all off so I have been favouring this for use at night time. This bottle will last you up to 3 months with regular use as well because you only need a few drops to cover your face each time (but only if you avoid the cotton wool application method).
