MAC Nicki Lip Glass Review

Product Purchased by IMBB

Hola bonita chica’s!

Now, I do not know if any of you actually do this, but the first thing I do when I go to a MAC store is to ask them when the next price hike is and what they have available in the older price range 😛 You will not believe the amount of times I have gotten lucky and recently I found makeup brushes that I wanted in the older price range with the new and more expensive ones sitting right next to them! I cannot wait to review all of them for you soon, but today, I have another sponsored product (thank you IMBB) for you guys and for a bargain too. It has turned out horribly however and I cannot warn you enough to not spend your money on it though. Read on to find out why!

MAC Nicki Lip Glass

Product Description:
A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick, it is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It is pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains jojoba oil to help soften and condition the lips.

Ingredients:

MAC Nicki Lip Glass

Price:
INR 990, USD 15 for 4.8 ml (0.16 fl oz) of product. A lip glass at MAC actually costs INR 1490 at the moment, but I got lucky with finding this for less because it was from the older stock with the previous price label. While this was a good think, the actual lip gloss, actually sucks.

My Experience with MAC Nicki Lip Glass:

I have to admit that the reason why I grabbed this was the price. Whenever I see something at the older price range at MAC, I throw all reason out of the store and tell myself that if something does not turn out as I like, at least, I can come back to MAC and get a free product! I think the same thing happened on this occasion where I did swatch this lip gloss both on my hands and lips, but I was not paying much attention while doing so because I was just happy that I found something at a lesser price. Now pink is also something that I do not indulge in as a colour for a lip gloss because I do not think it suits my skin tone and it makes me look washed out and ridiculous (I’m NC 35 with yellow undertones), but because it was cheaper, I picked this up. Big mistake!

MAC Nicki Lip Glass

With one swipe of this lip gloss, things did not seem bad. I think this is the best way to use this product, just to give a subtle hint or tint of pink on the lips with a little amount of product actually applied. You do not see the bright pink colour and your lips will look dewy and delicious. When I came home and put a second swipe on though to get that pink colour, it just settled in every fine line my lips possess and in the fine lines that I did not even know I had.

It looked so awful that I had to motivate myself repeatedly to not wipe it off because I had to see for the review how it performed throughout the day. These lines were visible from away as well because I had family members asking me why I was walking around with that stuff on my lips. All in the name of science guys, all in the name of science! 😛

Also, as I built up the pink colour with more swipes, I just realized that it was not a colour that suited my skin tone, so I can say that if you have cooler tones, then this is for you, not so much for warm skin tones. (Unless you can rock anything, in which case more power to you!)

MAC Nicki Lip Glass

This lip glass however did not bleed (silver lining?), so you can wear this on your bare lips directly. I would suggest you moisturise or exfoliate first because it does accentuate dry patches, as it did on my lips and you can also see these flakes in the lip swatches. It does not cause any dryness however, which is a rare plus point in this lip gloss and in fact the texture itself is quite hydrating. One unique thing about this lip gloss is that I could just as easily dab it off with tissue as I could wipe it with an oil-based makeup remover on cotton wool. This lip gloss lasted for around 3 hours after which it slowly started fading as I ate, drank and spoke throughout the day.
