Make Up For Ever Lip Gloss – Baby Pink Review
“I keep lip gloss everywhere. It always makes me feel like I’m slightly put together” – Angela Kinsey
Every make up enthusiast worth her MAC knows how lip gloss can lift things up like nothing else. Kajal or eye liner is too commonplace. Compact makes you look neat, but it is lip gloss that can really make you glam :-). Here, I am reviewing a lip gloss from Make Up For Ever. Their Lab Shine range of lip glosses includes three collections – Pearl, Metal and Diamond. This particular one is from the Diamond Collection, the shade D8 – Baby Pink. Apparently, these glosses are lightly textured and deliver a spectacular shine with a gorgeous pop of color.
Name of the Product:
Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Diamond Collection Lip Gloss (D8 Baby Pink).

My Experience with Make Up For Ever Lip Gloss – Baby Pink:
The lip gloss packaging is really simple, cylindrical shaped with a black lid that also acts as the brush handle. It’s tight and travel friendly. The shade number is mentioned at the bottom, there’s not really space for any other information :-).
The applicator is a brush and not the sponge applicator kind. It’s soft, silky and glides on very smoothly. The handle is long enough to be comfortable. Directions of use are to apply over bare lips or as a top coat over lipstick or lip liner.
If you look at the pictures of the bottle or the brush above, the gloss appears nice and pink, but on swatching, it disappoints a bit.
You see, the color is very faint, which is to be expected, considering the Diamond Collection offers the least color of all the three collections put together. Yet, you wish it was at least a little pinker.
It glides on lips effortlessly and does not stray outside the lip line. There is a faint apricot scent which is okay. The texture of this lip gloss is the best I have come across – it is perfectly non sticky. Anyone who has gone through the horror of hair strands getting stuck to their lips will understand what I am talking about here :-).
On my lips (which are a little dark), this gloss acts as a perfectly clear gloss. The “pop of color” they mention is completely lost on me, but the little sparkly bits are visible, making it live up to its name of Diamond Collection!! Another plus is that it’s very moisturizing and even after hours of wear, your lips don’t feel dry at all.
The sheer gloss comes in handy when layered over a well-pigmented lipstick, then the effect of the sparkles on the bright color looks great. This, in my opinion, would be the ideal way to use this gloss rather than on its own.

A huge worrying factor is the number of ingredients – just looking at the ingredient list will make your head spin!! And all these for such little color and a barely discernible scent. I guess all that moisturization and non-stickiness comes at a price!!
The Diamond Collection comprises of 12 shades in all, and the shade numbers are prefixed with the letter “D” for identification.
Pros of Make Up For Ever Lip Gloss – Baby Pink:
- Paraben free.
- Dermatologist tested.
- Very moisturizing, even after hours of wear.
- Beautiful effect on layering with bright lipstick.
- Totally non sticky and soft.
- Easy to apply, glides on smoothly.
- Neat packaging, travel friendly.
- Faint smell, not overwhelming.
- Sparkles give “diamond” effect.
Cons of Make Up For Ever Lip Gloss – Baby Pink:
- Not available in India.
- Very long ingredient list.
- Low pigmentation, almost clear.
- Not really useful for application on bare, especially pigmented lips.
IMBB Rating:
3/5
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Make Up For Ever Lip Gloss – Baby Pink?
Not really, even if it were easily available. The non-stickiness is a tempting factor, but between the low pigmentation and the ingredient list a mile long, I am not really feeling it. There are lots of better lip glosses available in India at a fraction of the price.

Thanks Neetu :). Yea, better skipping, especially considering all the chemicals that are in it!
Its a pretty pink shade Fab, but not for my pigmented lips *nababana*
Yes jomol, I wish the gloss was actually as pink as it appears on the bottle.
i do not like clear glosses….they only accentuate the pigmented lips….its a skip!
Yup, though not officially a clear gloss, it’s close 🙂
pretty one! but yeah not for my pigmented lippy.
The prettiness is only on the bottle, unfortunately!
It’s too sheer for my liking *headbang* *headbang*
Yes, the sheerness is something that takes away from the overall product 🙁
