Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation Review

Hello everyone,

Hope you all are doing well.  Makeup Forever recently revamped and reformulated their best-selling, cult favorite foundation. This product has been causing a lot of frenzy since its release with people being divided into those who absolutely love it and those who are begging for the old formula to be back. Since I have not used the old formula, I won’t be able to draw comparison with it, but Rati has reviewed that on IMBB here.  Read on to know my thoughts on this new foundation and find out whether it’s a hit or a miss for me. This review will be on the Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in the shade “155 = R370-Medium Beige.”

My Experience with Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation:

Packaging:  This foundation comes in a plastic bottle with a cap and a pump. Overall, the packaging is simple but practical.

Texture/Consistency:  This foundation has a thin, runny consistency, but it is not watery. It has sort of a consistency which is common with serum foundations and in my opinion it also performs a bit like them.

Application and Coverage:  This foundation delivers light to medium coverage. You do have to apply two layers for the foundation to build up to medium (bit shy of full) coverage. Since I do prefer light coverage foundations because I don’t have a lot of issues to cover up on my skin apart from a bit of uneven skin tone and redness, I find the coverage it gives more than sufficient, but if you are an absolute full-coverage loving gal, you will not be pleased with the coverage of this foundation.

My preferred method of applying this foundation (and every foundation with a thin consistency like this) is with my fingers. It goes on evenly and does not apply streaky. It does set pretty quickly hence I have to work fast when blending it in.

Shade:  This foundation comes in 40 shades with a variety of undertones (Y is for yellow, R is for red/pink etc).  My shade is 155 = R370-Medium Beige which is perfect match for me. It has a hint of pink undertone which I like in my foundation as it gives me that natural flushed look, but I did not find it too pink or too yellow. It has a perfect balance.  For reference, I am a MAC NW23, Medium Beige in Diorskin Star Fluid Foundation, Shade Vallauris in NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, Shade 5 in Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, Light Beige in Too faced Born This Way.

Finish and Feel on the skin:  The finish this foundation gives is not matte but not dewy either. It is very natural looking and makes your skin look so healthy and flawless without feeling heavy. It feels very lightweight on the skin. Though it does not feel drying on my skin, I do think this foundation benefits from a hydrating primer underneath to keep it from sticking to or accentuating dry patches. This foundation paired with Marc Jacobs Undercover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer are a match made in makeup heaven 😛

This foundation does not sink into or accentuate my pores, but if you are someone with problematic pores, you might have to use a pore filling primer for best results.

Staying Power:  During the summer time, my skin leans more towards normal- dry and has a tendency of getting oily when I step out. This foundation did start to get shiny on me around 6 hours into wear when not topped with powder, but if I set it with powder when I have applied my foundation, I rarely need to do any touchups during the day. There is very little fading or creasing through the whole day which is usually 8 hours for me.

Overall, I am really loving this foundation and it has become a foundation which will have its place in my regular rotation. This foundation may not be as loved by those with oily skin and those who prefer full coverage. But if you are someone who prefers lightweight, natural-looking foundation which does not make you look like you are wearing any makeup even from up close (or as per claim with a 4x camera), this is a must pick for up. Also, the fact that this foundation comes in over 40 shades, so you are guaranteed to find your match.

Pros of Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation:

  • Lightweight.
  • Gives buildable coverage.
  • Natural looking.
  • Gives your skin a healthy glow without being too matte or too dewy.
  • Long wearing.
  • Oil free.
  • Did not break me out.
  • Does not sink into pores.
  • Does not crack or settle into fine lines.
  • Does not accentuate dryness.

Cons of Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation:

  • Does get slightly shiny during the day which can be avoided if I set it with powder.
  • Coverage needs to be built up, even then it does not get to an absolute full coverage.
