Navya P. asks:

Hi,

First of all, I am a big fan of IMBB.  I am a silent follower of your blog from the past 2 years, though I have gone through many makeup products you have given, I am still confused to select the perfect makeup suits for me.  So, I kindly need your help.  I am a girl with wheatish South Indian skin tone, which is very very oily.  My skin is little acne prone and i have visible large pores on my face.  I tend to sweat so much, so I request you to suggest a makeup routine i.e., from facial cleanser, toner, primer, foundation, compact all the things.  My birthday is on 20th of September and this is my 1st BIRTHDAY after my marriage has been fixed, so this is the 1st time i’m gonna meet my fiancé.  Please help me!!!!!

  1. Hey.. I wld advice u to use Clinique products since thy are dermatologist test hence very suitable for acne prone skin, thy haven products specially designed for sensitive acne prone skin.. Even i have acne prone skin n ther products have helped me a lot.. ther even better foundation is one of my fav’s..

  2. Hi Navya,

Happy Birthday and congratulations in advance 🙂

For cleansing, toning, moisturizing – check out the clinique 3-step system for your skin type. Pick up the non-alcoholic toner and dramatically different gel. The liquid soap is not that great – you can use pond’s foaming face wash instead.

Since you are getting married soon, you can check out MAC studio fix fluid or compact foundation (these are really good, they say). Just make sure you get the perfect match, ask for samples first. You can also try clinique and bourjois foundation and compacts. For primer, check out clinique superprimers.

  3. So, Clinique is mentioned above, and so is MAC – use their Studio Fix or Mineralise foundations, they work. Unless you are extremely sensitive MAC will probably not break you out.

The same applies to Revlon Colorstay for Oily/Combination skin – it’s also cheaper!

Bourjois has a Healthy Mix Foundation which is supposed to be very good.

For longevity you should use a primer – L’Oreal, Colorbar, MAC have good ones that won’t break you out.

Good BB creams that you might like include Bourjois, Colorbar, Estee Lauder, Deborah Milano if you are in AC (it is not at all comedogenic, but it is not good for oil protection).

    Happy birthday, and congratulations!

  4. Navya – I’m in agreement to most of what is written by others – Clinique would be a good place to start with, for your skincare needs. For foundation, I would suggest MAC but not Studiofix or Mineralize. Mineralize range will make your skin more oily. Studiofix fluid is a heavy foundation and has tendency of breaking out people. I would suggest Matchmaster instead – its got good coverage but is light and lets your skin breathe.
