Hi Ladies,
The days are getting more and more chilly and I am totally loving it 🙂 The cherry on the cake is that we have the annual “poush mela” going on here which is a traditional fair held here for a week in December since the time of Guredev Rabindranath Tagore, and believe me, its a shopper’s heaven! You will find literally EVERYTHING in this huge fair and I am going crazy buying shoes, bags, sarees, accessories and what not here! 😀 Anyway, when I am not in the fair, which is just a few meager hours, I do the little DIY’s (you all know that by now). So this time, I came up with DIY just because didn’t want to throw away all the strong and sturdy boxes I get through my online purchases, and also because I wanted a proper storage box for my makeup things. I had three of those rectangular cardboard boxes and now I own one nice three-compartment make upbox! Want to know how I did it? Read on then:
These are the things you would need:
1. Cardboard boxes with lids (more than one and of the same size).
2. Duct tape.
3. Strong glue, like Fevicol.
4. A wrapping paper of your choice.
5. Ribbons or beads to decorate.
Step 1:
First step is to place the boxes side by side and check what size you want. If your boxes are larger than mine, you may use two instead of three.
Step 2:
Stick them together by applying glue on the sides. Refer to the picture. Let them dry.
Step 3:
Now, stick duct tape neatly all over the base. This way you can be sure that the boxes won’t fall apart.
Step 4:
Turn the box over and stick duct tapes at the ridges where the boxes meet, to make the dividing compartment of your box.
Step 5:
Next, take the three lids and cut out one side from the two of them and from the third one, cut out two sides. Please see the picture.
Step 6:
Place these side by side and use tape to stick them together. Use tape on the other side too. Now, you have a single lid and a single box from the three boxes
Step 7:
Wrap any wrapping paper of your choice on the lid and stick with tape with Fevicol.
Step 8:
Make a ribbon bow and paste it on the top of the lid.
Your makeup storage box is ready! If you wish, you can create further compartments by placing thermocol pieces within the compartments. I used the thermocol that came with the online shopping packaging 😛
Finally, here is how it looks!
I did not need to throw away the unused boxes and didn’t have to burn a hole in my pocket buying a makeup storage box too. I hope you all will try it too. See you next time.
