The entire treatment takes less than an hour. The best part is that you don’t have to shell out top dollar for a good keratin treatment. Let’s get into the details!

(I got this for SGD 15 in an end-of-year sale!), and it’s supposed to last for at least 2 applications. I have really short hair so I’m guessing I’ll be able to use it at least 6 times given the amount of product that’s still left.

My Experience with Marc Anthony 30-Day No Frizz Keratin Smoothing Treatment:

I’ve said before that my hair tends to frizz up like crazy, especially with the humidity down here in Singapore. I was looking for an affordable keratin treatment, but each salon treatment was well over $180. What?! No, thank you. That’s way too much for something that’s only going to last a few months. Plus, that’s all I’d think about each time I lost a hair in my hair brush.

That’s when I came across this golden-boy of a product. For $30 this thing does more than deliver. According to the box, it’s a semi-permanent keratin smoothing treatment that takes your frizzy hair to a level of smooth you never thought you could achieve for up to 30 days. In my experience, I think it lasts around 45-60 days if you do it right. The heat activated keratin infused formula bonds to hair strands to laminate and smooth the cuticle, locking in a frizz-free shine. It helps to repel humidity so that you keep your frizz under control no matter the weather. Plus, it helps to protect against damage and reduces blow drying time.

What’s inside:
The box comes with a hair cap to wrap the hair in while the treatment sits in the hair. A shampoo to cleanse the hair first. This is just a basic clarifying shampoo to remove all the buildup in your hair so that the treatment can penetrate the hair shaft better. And finally, the box contains a bottle of keratin smoothing treatment. This is a very runny, golden-brown colored liquid. I recommend doing this in the shower or over the sink because a lot of it is going to drip down. It’s so runny it dripped off my hand when I tried to take a quick picture of it. It also has a strong scent of caramelised brown sugar. Your bathroom will smell like caramel.

How to use it:
Wash hair with the clarifying shampoo provided in the small clear bottle. Do not condition. Blow dry hair to 80% dry. Apply the treatment in the purple bottle evenly from roots to ends and wait 30 minutes. Do not rinse. Blow dry hair smooth. Then flat iron in small sections, 3-5 times per section. It says that the treatment can be repeated after 30 days.

After the treatment:
You can’t wash your hair for 48 hours after the treatment. This doesn’t sound like a lot, but it is brutal! I was a greasy ball of goop after 40 hours of not washing my hair (but my hair is short so the oils travel a lot faster).

I used a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner (also from Marc Anthony) and the treatment lasted me about a month and a half. My hair was a lot shinier, smoother, and so much less frizzy. I wouldn’t say that this is comparable to an actual keratin treatment from the salon, but for the price and ease of use, I still think it’s pretty great. It does not give a very drastic effect, but definitely noticeable. If you want stick straight hair, then this definitely is not for you. However, this did make my 2B curls a lot nicer looking. Keep in mind though that this treatment slightly lightened my hair. But that’s possible because I used the flat-iron so many times.
