Recently, I picked up some of the newly-released Marc Jacobs lipsticks. Now, before you groan and say “not another liquid lipstick!,” let me clarify that these are actually lip cremes which promise to be long wear and hydrating. Are you intrigued ? I know I was and decided to pick up 3 shades from this range. This review will be on the Marc Jacobs liquid lip creme in the shade “Hot Cocoa.”

My Experience with Marc Jacobs 460 Hot Cocoa Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme:
Packaging: Marc Jacobs is known for its ultra sleek, modernist aesthetics and following the theme of most MJ products, this lip creme comes in a glossy black tube with reflective silver detailing.
The shade is visible through a tiny window on the tube which I thought was a nice touch to help differentiate colors in the collection. The wand is a standard doe foot which I found to be very precise in lining and filling the lips and holds a decent amount of product.
Consistency: This lip creme is of luxuriously thick and creamy consistency, yet it is not heavy. It spreads evenly on the lips with absolutely no streaking.
Pigmentation: I was very very impressed with the pigmentation. It delivers full opaque color in a single layer.
Shade: “Hot Cocoa” is a beautiful deep milk chocolate brown. It is not too red nor too taupe, just the perfect in between. This shade would look stunning on brown Indian skin tones as your perfect n*de shade but I also believe it will look flattering on every skin tone. Not to mention “that 90s brown” is such a hot trend these days.
Finish: When initially applied, the finish is quite glossy, but after an hour or two, it settles to a satin.
Feel on lips and Staying Power: This is not the kind of liquid lipstick that settles to a completely dry and is transfer proof. I would say it’s about 75-80% transfer proof. It remains hydrating throughout the wear time and my lips never ever feel uncomfortable with this on. There is mild settling in the lines which is only noticeable from up close. I notice slight fading after 6-7 hours with snacking and drinking breaks, but overall, most of the color still remains intact. I do need to reapply after a full meal. It leaves a slight stain behind as it fades.
Fragrance: It has a mild vanilla scent which I don’t find bothersome.
Overall, Marc Jacobs lipsticks have always impressed me in the past, in fact the LeMarc lipstick formula is one of my top favs and I am happy to add this on that list as well. I absolutely recommend this.
Pros of Marc Jacobs 460 Hot Cocoa Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme:
- Opaque pigmentation in one layer.
- Lightweight feeling on the lips.
- Long wearing.
- Hydrating and comfortable throughout wear.
Cons of Marc Jacobs 460 Hot Cocoa Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme:
- Not a huge shade range, only 6 shades as of now.
- Not completely transfer proof, a con for those who don’t enjoy that. I personally don’t mind this.
- Not fragrance free, again a matter of personal preference.
