Max Factor Vivid Impact Mascara – Moonlit Black Review

A mascara that makes your eye pop out is on everyone’s wish list! Right ladies? Well, today’s review is about one such mascara that has been in my makeup kit for almost 2 years now. Yes, you are right, it is Max Factor Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara. This is not like your usual mascara – it has a base coat and a highlighting top coat. Like primer and shimmer – pretty innovative right? Also, the mascara is available in 4 other shades.

Price:

Rs. 1227  for 10.6 ml (5.3 ml base coat and highlighting coat). However, I got this one for AUD 7 dollars (Rs. 350 approximately) from warehouse chemist. 😀

Ingredients:

Talc, Mineral Oil, Water, Stearic Acid, PEG-32, PEG-6, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Triethanolamine, Lanolin, Propylparaben, Sorbic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Fragrance, Sulfated Castor Oil, Methylparaben, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides May Contain: Ultramarines. Sorry, I don’t have it’s printed label any more – so I can’t really upload the picture of all it’s ingredients.

My Experience with Max Factor Vivid Impact Mascara – Moonlit Black:

The mascara I have been using from this range is 903 Black/Silver Moonlit mascara. I actually am really fond of this mascara – it does a good job when it comes to defining my eyes! The wand has tiny bristles which actually act like a comb when it comes to separating lashes. Since I wear lenses at times and also have sensitive eyes – I have little tolerance for mascaras which flake or cause irritation. Vivid Impact saves me from experiencing both. Also, even though this mascara is not waterproof, it really stays on for long and does not smudge off easily.

Another thing I would like to talk about is it’s highlighting coat. Though I am really fond of the base coat, I do not feel the same about the highlighting top coat. Max factor states that it’s highlighting top coat will make your eyes pop out – errr, not really! Everytime, I have applied the highlighting top coat, I somehow realized that the effect can only be seen when my eyes are exposed to good lighting.  And if that’s not the case, I feel like the silver/moonlight highlighting coat actually make my lashes go invisible, not something I am really fond of.

Tip to applying your highlighting top coat, if you like to add to that highlighting effect to the max, I would suggest you to apply your highlighting top coat just on the tip of your lashes. Do not coat the highlighting coat from root to tip.

Pros of Max Factor Vivid Impact Mascara – Moonlit Black:

• Defining base coat – adds a decent volume and length to lashes.
• The wand is Max Factor’s patented IFX brush.
• Does not clump.
• Does not flake.
• Does not smudge easily, you can wear it for 8 hours straight and this one would remain smudge free! 😀
• Does not cause irritation.
• Suitable for contact lens wearers.
• Does not make your lashes appear fake!

Cons of Max Factor Vivid Impact Mascara – Moonlit Black:

• Unfortunately, the effect is not much visible unless you are exposed to proper lighting, and even then it might not show up vividly in pictures  (Reason why you can’t see the effect in the pictures uploaded).
• Available in India for Rs. 1227.

I feel like there are other good mascaras out there, which you can probably get for the same price or less.

Apart from these two factors, I would say the mascara is overall really good. It does not clump my lashes even after applying several coat! 😀
