Maybelline 040 Fawn Dream Flawless Nude Fluid-Touch Foundation Review

This foundation today I have for you, is apparently a dupe for Armani Maestro foundation and the YSL Fusion Ink one, another drugstore dupe would L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder one. I got this because the bottle is really unique, it is like a bigger-sized nail color bottle 😛 It is glass and it has a tear drop applicator, which is best not infected by directly applying on the face. I use it to dab the back of my hand and then use it with a beauty blender. I notice it is best used with a beauty blender, it gives it a very pretty light luminous glow.

The foundation in UK has seven shades, and this is the 4th one, I have picked it in the wrong shade as this has pinker tones to it and kind of looks a little white on me, I am fair to medium.;I can make do with a deeper setting powder with it. The stock wasn’t great in Boots unfortunately. There are three more darker shades than this shade in Fawn.

The stunning side of this foundation is that once you apply it on, you can literally feel it is smooth as satin. I was super impressed with the smooth feel, the consistency is runny – remember. The coverage is light to medium, though I could see my pores looked better, but it does nothing for the scars. The under eyes look brighter with this. The finish I would say is matte to luminous, somewhere in between that. Initially it looks matte and flawless… When I do not set it with powder, it starts to look very nicely gently luminous.

Coming to the staying power, I did not set it with powder to test it out. Initially two hours it remained flawless, next two hours it started looking luminous but intact, another two hours my oils had started to peep in.With a setting powder on, it should last 5 hours at least. It does not oxidize as far as I notice. This shade has a little pink tone to it. The foundation blends very well and flawless and sets in a minute or so to a light matte feel.It is very light and does not feel cakey or heavy at all.

Coming to the down side of the foundation, it does not photograph well, you can see the foundation on clearly. I also notice it is best used with damp applicator, fingers do not do justice. Another factor is that the shades are limited so far, hope they launch soon in India. Another sad part is that it clings to dry patches, you need a smooth base, the foundation in itself is very soft powdery matte satin feel. I do not think this will last an Indian summer day out though.

All said and done, this is a brilliant light weight light coverage satin feel slightly luminous foundation, suitable for most skin types this summer. Very oily and very dry skin should be cautious to get a better base initially.

  1. Loved the pics Neha 🙂 the tear drop applicator is so unique – we both have hit bull’s eye with foundations this month 🙂

  2. I just loved the packaging and somehow it reminded me of L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. But, I would not go for a foundation that does not photograph well. :/ Very well reviewed, though. 😀

  3. A well reviewed foundation Neha :). The applicator is so unique! I’ve never seen one like this. I’ve always hated the way my skin looks in photographs with foundations which are not “photo ready”. So, this might be a miss for me 😛

  4. Looks nice, pretty packaging 🙂
and the foundation doesn’t look heavy at all..would be a good try for oily skin, na??
    Btw..what’s its price??
