Maybelline Twinkling Taupe Baby Lips Crystal Moisturizing Lip Balm Review

I love Maybelline Baby Lips, like we all do. So, when I spotted the Maybelline Baby Lips Crystal Collection, I picked up four shades- ‘Crystal kiss’, ‘Pink Quartz’, ‘Beam of Blush’ and ‘Twinkling Taupe’.

I have already reviewed the first three and here, I bring you the fourth one from my collection. 😀 The left out two didn’t get the privilege to be picked up by me since the shade ‘Gleaming Coral’ was not available 🙁 and I did not particularly like “Mirrored Mauve.”

So, here is the fourth and final baby lips from my collection called “Twinkling Taupe.” (Don’t worry, Maybelline has 2 more shades apart from these 4 😛 )

Usage:

For best results, apply in the centre of your upper lip to the outer edges, following the contours of your mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip. Can be worn under lip color.

But, I feel that it is better worn over lip color due to the shimmer and shine it provides to the lips.

My Experience with Maybelline Twinkling Taupe Baby Lips Crystal Moisturizing Lip Balm:

Packaging: The packaging is similar to original Baby Lips with a baby pink colored cylindrical tube and transparent cap with color coded Maybelline Baby Lips written over it in the color corresponding to the shade inside. The pretty shimmers on the cap makes it cuter than the previous versions.

The Shade: The Maybelline Baby Lips Crystal is a shimmery color collection and is available in 6 shades. Each shade has a hint of sheer color and a gorgeous shimmery, pearlescent look. The shades are similar to the others launched in the past, the only difference being the presence of shimmer.

The shade “Twinkling Taupe” looks like dark brown with tons and tons of glitter in the tube. The color is actually very sheer and is warm beige, light brown, nude kind of shade. I feel this is the most pigmented shade in this collection. And yes, the only one which is a bit visible on my pigmented lips. 🙁

On girls with non-pigmented lips, this color would look very pretty nude brown. The glitter is not chunky and gives a very pretty natural shimmery tint to the lips. The shimmer is not OTT but gives a tiny, subtle, sheer hint of shimmer to the lips. The shimmer is not gritty or bold, but very finely milled and smooth.

It has a sweet candy like smell and tastes like the same. 😀 There is no mention of any SPF value on the packaging. Also, the moisturizing properties too are like the other variants. It provides hydration for a couple of hours after which reapplication is needed. So, the 8 hours claim is not true.

Pros of Maybelline Twinkling Taupe Baby Lips Crystal Moisturizing Lip Balm:

• Lovely sweet candy like smell.
• Moisturizes lips for around 4 hours.
• Leaves a pretty glittery shine on lips.
• Formula is great and creamy.
• Glitter is not over the top.
• The shimmer particles does not travel to your face after the lip balm wears off.
• Color payoff is more than the other shades that I own.

Cons of Maybelline Twinkling Taupe Baby Lips Crystal Moisturizing Lip Balm:

• No mention of SPF on the packaging.
• 8 hour claim is not true.

Yes, I would. 😀 This is my most loved shade out of the lot (well, maybe because I am mostly into nude shades 😉 ). So, I am surely keeping a backup of the same. 😀
