Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm – Just Peachy Review

Hey girls!

Guess what I came across recently while shopping for lip products?? It’s another lip balm from the good old Maybelline Baby Lips range.  I had never seen this Dr. Rescue range of lip balms before. So when I saw this, I had to pick it up. Added advantage was that they were tinted as well!! I picked up a peachy shade to start with. Let’s see how these new range of Dr. Rescue lip balms fared!

My Take on Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm – Just Peachy:

I love my baby lips in general! They really work for my dry lips almost instantly. These medicated lip balms are no different either. They are as good as the normal baby lips. Why just “as good as” the good old baby lips? Read on more to know about it..

I do not have chapped lips, but I do have dry lips and since summers, I have been experiencing wind burn frequently. So, I always carry a couple of lip balms with me.  Maybelline Baby Lips Dr.Rescue Medicated lip balm has a very minty flavor to it due to the presence of methanol, which is the main ingredient. It also has a very distinctive mint fragrance. It feels very minty fresh and gives a tingling kind of sensation instantly on application.

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm

It indeed is effective as the regular baby lips range, but does nothing more. The only difference between the Dr.Rescue medicated lip balm range and the regular baby lips range is that the former provides that fresh, minty sensation and the later does not. Both are effective in treating chapped and dry lips though. Both have tinted as well as clear versions to it.

The only con I find is that these are not long lasting enough. You will have to constantly reapply them and the shade that I got – Just Peachy is just too pale and sheer on my lips! Apart from the shade and longevity I love everything about it! Let me sum up the pros and con’s for you:

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm

Pros of Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm – Just Peachy:

  • Provides a very fresh, minty, soothing sensation to lips.
  • Keeps lips moisturized.
  • Heals chapped and dry lips effectively, provided reapplying it every hour not a hassle.
  • Affordable!
  • Does not feel heavy or waxy on lips.

Cons of Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm – Just Peachy:

  • The methanol smell might be a turn off for few. I personally love it!
  • Very poor staying power. Lasts for an hour at the max on my lips. Reapplication is a pain to me!
  • This particular shade is too pale on my lips!
  • Wish it came with an SPF, does not provide protection.
  • Tint is very sheer.

Bottom Line:

These are as good as our good old regular baby lips. I would recommend it if you want to feel that fresh minty tingles on your lips (which I love BTW! I use it constantly when I at home – this shade is too pale to be worn outside anywhere).  I would probably repurchase in a different shade!

IMBB Rating:

3.8/5 (-1 for the staying power ..The Tint is too sheer).

  1. No SPF? It looks more like a lipstick than like a lip balm. 🙂 I think I’ll stick to the origin Babylips – not really looking for another mint flavoured balm. (My current lip balm is mint flavoured). *thankyou*
