Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color in Blush Essence Review

Since writing for IMBB, I have found myself buying a lot more stuff to use and review. And when I say “I”, I mean my husband. He’s just like babe- do you really need that 10th lip gloss that looks exactly the same as the other one you just bought a few days ago? He has also noticed the IMBB website in his favourites on his phone, his ipad and his laptop. Anyone else is the same situation? We should start a men’s section on IMBB for them I say! Keep them entertained while we do our thing, what do you say Rati? Haha! Anyway, I am in a good mood because I finally have a good product for you! I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

These super girly lip glosses are so appealing! I love that the lip gloss is in the shape of a lipstick inside its transparent packaging. The shiny silver top with the brand name on it just completes the whole look and just by looking at them they look like a luxurious lip gloss and not a drugstore brand. The cap twists close securely and this colour does not look ooh la la when you look at it, but it definitely delivers!

Not sure why the Boots website refers to this shade as Blusch Essence, maybe it is a typo or maybe that’s what the name is in the UK!

Price:
USD 8.99 and GBP 6.99 and I know that these are available in India too! In the US, the prices do vary in store and online so I know that you can get these for cheaper if you hunt for it. I find it really strange that nowhere on the bottle has it been mentioned about the quantity in the tube.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color in Blush Essence:

It was such a pleasant surprise to feel the consistency of this lip gloss on my lips! With how badly the other two shades from this line have been for me, I was not expecting anything different from this colour too, but it was nice to see that this has definite potential!

This shade does not apply looking like the same colour in the tube. Rather it applies much better. The reason I bought it is because the tester, as you can see in my hand swatch, swatched really well and I liked the colour in the store! This is very close to my go-to pink beige with a slight hint of brown lip gloss. I classify this shade as a neutral and it is great for everyday wear. It also has some glitter elements in it which I usually avoid, but in this particular shade, I am really liking! It is not an overwhelming amount of sparkle, but it just gives a very dewy look to the lips when the sun light hits them. It also looks glossy without being over the top making this the perfect shade for every day wear!

Now this shade too does settle in the fine lines of your lips a bit, but compared to Hibiscus Haven and Nude Illusion, this is nothing. It is only about 5-10% of the amount that they creased and it actually goes away a lot of the time if you keep smacking your lips together.

This lip gloss is very smooth during application and the one thing that has impressed me with the applicator is that you do not need to go back for a second time to cover your lips with more product. What you get the first time is more than enough. Also, I think because the consistency of this lip gloss is better than the other two ones I have reviewed, this applicator does not streak the product while putting it on.

The one thing I am loving about this lip gloss is the hydration power. It keeps my lips very soft even after it has worn off causing no flaking or dryness of my lips but leaving me with a supple feeling. It does not wear off easily either, lasting 3 hours easily, which is pretty good for a lip gloss!

I love how sheer the colour applies as well, I would not want this shade very opaque when applied. This gloss is also very light weight and is not sticky or heavy at all. This shade is definitely a light blush essence for your lips! Finally a winner!

• Does not cause drying or flaking of lips.

Cons of Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color in Blush Essence:

• This packaging is starting to get to me as it is feeling a little bulky.

Would I Repurchase Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color in Blush Essence?
I think I have had enough of this line to not repurchase any shade from them in the near future, but this is a good colour, a staple to have if you do not own many lip glosses so go for it!
