Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish Pop 1 Review

I have been writing for IMBB for about two months now, and I love every second of it. I was once a shy reader and one fine day I decided to send one review myself, it is one of the best decisions I have made 😀 Jomol di and everybody else are so supportive and encouraging that it keeps me going 🙂 And there are countless of times that I have dreamed of Rati (haha! Don’t take me for crazy) because I idolize her that much. So, getting to today’s review, it is a lip polish from Maybelline.  Read on for more details:

My Take on Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish Pop 1:

Packaging:  I am so in love with the classy packaging. Maybelline has done a good job with it. The key to a product in the eyes of the buyer is the aesthetics, and then comes what’s inside. Very true in this case 😀 The tube shaped like a lipstick bullet is so appealing that it makes you wanna look at it all the time 😛 The applicator is different than other glosses; it is leaf shaped with a groove in the middle that catches hold of the product. I did not find this beneficial, it made my application streaky instead. The shade number is written at the bottom. It is travel friendly.

Texture: I am not a fan of glosses as they feel heavy and sticky. This one has a slightly thicker texture than normal glosses, but that also adds to the lasting power, so I cannot complain. I do not like thick formulas personally, but this one feels right when not applied too much. I do not like to purse my lips when I have this on, as it gives a weird feeling.

Shade: Pop 1 is a bright tangerine orange. It looks muted on lips and very appealing from the tube. It is free from shimmer. It needs some time to settle and the full color shows up afterwards. It gives a highly mirror gloss finish that I find suitable for parties and weddings. It is free from fragrance and taste which is a plus for me, extremely pretty for summers.

Pigmentation: This gloss has average pigmentation, not that I have any issues with. I do like less pigmented gloss, all I look for is that hint of color, shine and “plumped up” effect. It gives medium coverage when more than one coat is applied, it makes your face look fresh. When I applied a coat of it, I felt a tingling/burning sensation on my lips which took about 10 minutes to wear off after the gloss set. This was quite irritating and bothersome. It will not hide lip pigmentation as it is somewhat sheer.

Lasting Power:  The lasting power is pretty good for a glossy lip product. It does transfer, but minimally due to the heavy texture. The shine stays for around an hour or so; if I snack, then it’s gone. Without snacking, it stays for more time after which it evenly fades out leaving behind a pretty tint. Overall, the gloss stays for 2.5+ hours which is laudable. It left my lips so soft and moisturized unlike other lip products, that I am gonna give extra points for it.

I totally love this even though I do not wear glosses on a daily basis. It is awesome for parties and a day out. I never tried orange lip colors, and after this, I will surely hit at orange shades.

• Gorgeous shade, it’s a tangerine orange.
• Staying power is superb.
• It does not transfer heavily.
• Leaves behind a pretty tint.
• Fades evenly.
• Pigmentation is great for a gloss.
• It gives medium coverage when layered.
• Does not dry out my lips at all.

Cons of Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish Pop 1:

• It feels heavy, like something is on my lips.
• This particular shade is slightly sheer and may not cover pigmented lips (not a con for me).
• It can look streaky, so it needs to be evened out.
• Tingling sensation, bothered me a lot.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish Pop 1?

Absolutely.  This is a wonderful product, and this particular shade is extremely pretty for an orange. It can be pulled off by anybody, even those who are not into oranges.
