Maybelline Color Sensational Orchid Ecstasy Rebel Bloom Lipstick Review

Today, I have a lipstick for you 😀 It was so long that I bought a lipstick, so I didn’t spent even minute in picking this one when I noticed this collection in my local Target.  Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom range is a new permanent lipstick line launching with the Maybelline Spring 2015 Collection. The lipstick range has 10 pastel shades which Maybelline describes as a kicky bouquet of colors. 😉 Let us see how much kick this shade gives. 😛

Now pastels rebel in 10 vivacious shades. A kicky boquet of lip colors in pinks, reds and mauves. Honey nectar adds a sumptuous feel.  Apply lip color starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Sensational Orchid Ecstasy Rebel Bloom Lipstick:

The lipstick comes in a bright pink case which is similar for all the shades in the “Rebel Bloom”collection and sets them apart from other Color Sensational ranges. The bullet comes in a standard silver casing which is sturdy and travel friendly. The shade number and name is written at the bottom on a color-coded sticker.

Orchid Ecstasy is truly a spring shade. It is a vibrant violet-magenta shade which has little pink undertones. It looks really dark in the bullet which really intimidated me, since I thought that it would not look good on my complexion, but this didn’t stop me from picking this shade. 😉

The lipstick has a balm-like texture and applies sheer on the lips. The pigmentation is semi-opaque which can be easily built up on the lips as per your requirement and comfort level. 😉

It doesn’t feel cakey even on layering and does not feather or bleed.  However, I did feel that it applied a little blotchy and a lip liner beneath would improve the application, but it is super hydrating and moisturizing. I applied it without applying any lip balm beneath and never even felt like applying it for almost whole day, which is a blessing for my dry lips. The honey nectar is really working 😀

The lipstick has a candy like smell to it, which is not strong, but may bother sensitive noses though the smell doesn’t stay for long and disappears in sometime after application. The lipstick has no taste at all.  The staying power is just like all other colorsensational lipsticks I have tried so far. The shade wears well for around 4 hours with a few sips of water in between. After that, it fades evenly without leaving any stain on the lips. The color, however, does not survive a meal. After meal, it fades lightly from the center of the lips, but does leave a stain behind.  The lovely pink stain stayed on me for rest of the day. The stain came off easily with a lip makeup remover.

Cons of Maybelline Color Sensational Orchid Ecstasy Rebel Bloom Lipstick:

• Transfers a lot.
• Has faint smell, may bother sensitive noses.
• Sheer pigmentation.

Would I Repurchase Maybelline Color Sensational Orchid Ecstasy Rebel Bloom Lipstick?

Orchid Ecstasy is a lovely shade and perfect to brighten up your look and really does provides the much-needed kick to a dull face. 😉 I might not repurchase this particular shade, but yes would pick up more from this range for sure. 😀
