The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lipsticks were launched a while ago and I have already reviewed 3 shades from this range – “Electric Pink,” “Fuchsia Ecstasy,” “Pink Charge.” Today, I am reviewing the shade “Vivid Violet.” So, read on to find out more about this product.

My Experience with Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid – Vivid Violet:
Packaging: This liquid lipstick comes in a transparent rectangular tube with a black cap. The packaging is pretty simple yet effective. The cap is a screw-on type and hence there is no danger of it coming off loose. The name of the lipstick appears on a sticker at the bottom.
The applicator sponge is pretty long and flat. It picks up a decent amount of the product. It is easy to use and makes the application precise and quick.
Shade/Pigmentation: “Vivid Violet” – well, what else can it be, but violet 😛 What a shade, surely not meant for all!! But those of you who like wearing purple/violet lipsticks or want to try something different, can try this one out. I, for one, got this shade, just for fun as I do not possess any other true bold violet lipstick, but I don’t think I will ever wear it outside my home 😛
The lipstick is decently pigmented, but I noticed little patchiness with this shade. It can be smoothened out in 2 swipes, but layering also makes it to clump slightly.
Texture/Finish: This is a liquid lipstick and has a creamy texture. It is not very runny and spreads easily on the lips. This range is advertised as matte, but the lipstick does not dry down completely and remains slightly wet throughout its wear time. It has a pretty glossy finish.
The lipstick feels comfortable and lightweight on the lips and does not feel drying. It does not highlight any dry patches, but I would still recommend exfoliating lips before application.
I did not notice any feathering but I would recommend using a lip liner since this is a bright shade. The lipstick has a faint scent but nothing too overpowering. The good part is that the scent doesn’t stay on for long once applied.
Lasting Power: Since this lipstick is not truly matte, it does transfer. It lasts on me for around 4-5 hours depending on what I am snacking/drinking, but honestly, I have tried this lipstick only at home for the purposes of testing. I am absolutely not confident wearing this kind of a shade in public.
Pros of Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid – Vivid Violet:
- Creamy texture which glides smoothly on the lips.
- Decent pigmentation.
- Does not feel drying on the lips.
- Does not highlight any dry patches.
Cons of Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid – Vivid Violet:
- This particular shade will not appeal to all.
- Does not have a matte finish as advertised.
- Slightly patchy application.
- Clumps if layered.
- Average staying power.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid – Vivid Violet?
I personally did not like this shade and hence will not recommend. I will not repurchase the exact same shade.
