Today I am here to share one of my favorite red glosses from Maybelline from their recent color elixir collection which was deep seated in my messy stash and recently resurfaced while I was looking for another red lipstick.. 😛 lol Well this is a never ending story, I never get any stuff when needed, they always play hide & seek with me especially when I am in hurry! Packaging: These lip elixirs come in a usual transparent thick plastic glass packaging with bronze silver cap, and leaf shaped doe foot applicator. Shade of gloss is clearly visible from tube which gives an illusion of a lipstick, absolutely amazing! I love its rosy vanilla smell which is not overpowering. Overall quite attractive and travel friendly packaging.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Elixir “Signature Scarlet”:

Signature scarlet seems like a cherry red gloss with subtle hint of orange in the tube. It is a bold and intensely pigmented liquid balm in the color elixir collection next to “dashing orchid” I believe. It does have shimmers which are hardly visible on the lips. It gives enough pigmentation which slightly blurs lip pigmentation in just one swipe. We can achieve slight full coverage in 2-3 swipes though. However, I like to swipe it once for a subtle reddish pink glossy sheen with minimal sparkles which give fuller effect to my lips apart from complimenting my skin tone in bright day light! Moreover I observed that while this gloss gives me nearly full coverage in 2-3 swipes it also feels slightly sticky and thick on the lips which I dislike. And hence I am fine with single stroke which gives me buildable color pay off though it’s a pretty subtle pink based red pigmentation than what we see in the tube! It remains more intense for initial 2-3 hours thereafter fading into pink stain which looks pretty fine! The texture of gloss is slight thick yet light weight which really glides like silk on my lips.

I always observed they keep my lips well hydrated and super soft for good few hours and I do not need lip balm even after removing it off my lips for 1-2 hours! This shade is pigmented hence it manages to stay for 4+ hours on my lips thereafter fading into subtle pink stain on the lips. However its single stroke only survives 4-6 hours with occasional water sips & light snacks! It does need touch ups after a heavy meal as it tends to fade from the middle patch of my lips even when I swipe it once or more! Overall I love this signature scarlet for its wide dimension of color pay off on the lips, it is definitely more pigmented and a deep cherry red than my L’Oreal extraordinaire rouge allegro, which is perfect blend of pink & red with shimmers! I would highly recommend this shade to every gloss lover gal who wants to wear red without looking bold; this is good stuff to start with!

Pros of Maybelline Colorsensational Color Elixir in Signature Scarlet

 An intensely pigmented saucy & juicy balm which feels light on lips
 A beautiful cherry red gloss with subtle sparkles which are hardly visible on lips
 It gives nice pay off with slight medium to nearly opaque coverage on lips
 Considering its coverage and intense color pay off I guess it will compliment beauties with pigmented lips as well
 This cherry red works on any skin tone I believe
 As long as it stays on my lips, I do not feel the need of lip balm
 I feel lips are soft & hydrated even after removing it off completely
 It gives pretty pink red glossy sheen in single stroke which slightly fades my lip pigmentation while lasting 4-6 hours with light snacks
 It gives deep cherry red glossy pigmentation in 2-3 swipes which is more tending to orange with nearly full coverage and survives 4+ hours on lips with light snacks
 It does not feather or bleed or settle in fine lip crevices.
 Slightly rosy vanilla smell which fades after sometime
 Quite attractive & travel friendly packaging at affordable price

Cons of Maybelline Colorsensational Color Elixir in Signature Scarlet :

• It transfers heavily on cutlery
• It might become thick & tacky on lips with multiple swipes

I only love its single stroke on lips as it gives subtle red pink sheen with fuller lips unlike deep orange red pigmentation in multiple swipes. The more I swipe it the more uncomfortable I feel with its thick, tacky nature, you know what I mean? Moreover, I love well defined & subtle glossy lips these days! However, for true gloss lovers this is surely going to be a hit and must have shade as well. This is one wearable red gloss which is a good start for all red admirers as well as red suckers like me especially in spring/summers hehe! Do try it out gals!
