Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer Review

Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer Review

A bronzer I feel is the last but not at all the least step in makeup-and in my opinion, its applicability should not be restricted to evening parties. Bronzers give that warm glow on cheeks during daytime and although our Indian skins don’t need a bronzer for a tanned sun-kissed look (hehe-the sun gets us baked literally!!) I feel bronzers can be used to highlight and contour the cheek beautifully. So couple of months back, I was on the lookout for a good bronzer. The Lakme fantasy collection wasn’t revealed till then-and at the counters of a makeup store- I came across the Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer. I had been on the lookout for the mousse blushes for long-but seeing a bronzer in Mousse form just couldn’t stop me from buying it . 🙂

Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer (Shade: Glistening Sun) Price Rs 190

Product Details mentioned in the Maybelline Website:

Why You’ll Love It

• Air-whipped mousse bronzer feels satin-soft on skin, glides on smoothly and blends easily for a seamless glow
• Long-wearing formula provides luminous, long-lasting color on cheeks without clogging pores

For Best Results
With your fingertips, pat a small amount of bronzer onto the apples of your cheeks. Use feathery strokes to blend gently from your cheekbones to your temples. To build color intensity, apply more bronzer.

The Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer comes in an similar small tub as the Maybelline mousse blushes. The product looks like a smooth paste with a copper-gold shade. The texture is absolutely smooth and glides on easily.

My take on Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer:

The first time I used the Maybelline bronzer was for a marriage reception party and where I usually love to highlight the apple of my cheeks and the cheekbone. On applying this bronzer-I felt the texture to be really smooth and it blended like dream. However, the pigmentation, I felt is not that of a highlighter-and on the contrary gives only a subtle glow on the skin. This makes the cheeks look healthy and not shiny. Also I felt that the amount of color and shine could be controlled very nicely-and it hardly ever looks OTT. For oily skinned people like me- the staying power of the mousse bronzer is average-and in this respect-powder bronzers make a score.

So here are the Pros and Cons:

Pros of Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer

1) Smooth texture that blends flawlessly
2) Price is reasonable
3) Shimmer is controllable and buildable
4) Doesn’t look OTT
5) Lightweight –didn’t break me out

Cons of Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer

1) It does not highlight the cheeks much-you can see on my pic below-it barely shows up as a metallic orange tinge.
2) For skin of my type-that gets oily after some time of makeup-the staying power of this bronzer may be not so good-and certainly not better than powder bronzers.
3) Comes in a tub form-while picking up, the product sticks to my finger nails -and using a brush picks up a lot of product.
One thing I found nice about this product is that it works superbly as an eyeshadow base. I used it over my lids and found the eyeshadows popping their colors. So having found two uses of it-I rate this product 3.5 on 5. But as for bronzers- I will look out for powder ones henceforth.

Here is me wearing the bronzer.

      1. Yup-there is this Maybelline Whitestay UV base-and there is a face primer from Oriflame I guess-around 200-300 bucks..as for the eyeshadow base-I myself use the Avon Ideal shade stick concealer that often comes on offer at 179 bucks. Works pretty well 🙂 :pompom: :pompom: :pompom:

    1. I think I will give the Lakme Fantasy collection bronzer a try-but I also like the Maybelline blush in Apricot flush-its not actually a bronzer- but gives a bronzy glow to the cheeks !!!!

        1. ohh no!!! then I needa check 🙁 I dont want OTT shimmer-looks very odd at times..why does Lakme bring out products that only works for marriage parties???? like see their eye shadow collection-its all shimmer here and glitter there 🙁 🙁

      1. waiting for your review Jinal !!! The Maybelline mousse blushes have such a soft texture and unbelievable price-however I dint like color of the peach satin-very shimmery pink 🙁 :yikes: :yikes:

            1. i have soft plum too… it’s a fantastic shade, it’s my go-to shade for just about every occasion…it’s not too dark, too light, too bold, too subtle… i’m in love with it 😀 Can’t wait for Jinal’s review!

  4. hey anuradha… nice review.. and u look so cute!!
i never tried anything from dis mousse range after the foundation gave me a white face (y can’t they have enough shades and y is the SA always tryinna sell u a wrong shade??) although i really like the texture of this range..but thats it…also the dibbi is really hard na? (i’m so clumsy i’ve dropped my foundation a gazillion times) 😛

    1. Thankuuu Thankuuu… :teddy: :teddy: :teddy: the Maybelline Mousse foundation has disappointed many-just because of its shade selection may be-but if it works-as for my case-its goinna be your best friend!!! It gives awsum coverage-no break outs and lasts all day long!!! and ya..this cute little tub is prone to falling-I dont fear it will break-I just fear it doesn’t roll down below the wardrobes 😀 😀

  5. Anuradha….you look very pretty…..bronzer or no bronzer….personally, I tho like bronzers on clear skin like yours……on acne prone skin….it looks very 😮 😮

    1. Thankuu Jomol    actually me dont use blushes or highlighters at all when I have bouts of acne-they not only worsen the acne-they like shout “look this girl has acne!!” hehehehe but in other cases-a light goldy-glow is always welcome for me :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  6. Anuradha you looking gorgeous. :puchhi: ….just a small tip. Try using this on the hollows of the cheek blending from cheekbones towards the temples. Use a nice peach blush (try peach satin from same brand) on the apples and blend with the bronzer. Will give you a very nice bronzy glow. :))

    1. Thats a nice tip Jini :waytogo: :waytogo: ..dint know how to use a bronzer before. :nababana: :nababana: :nababana: :yikes: :yikes: :methinks: :methinks:

      1. Ohhh Jinal …thankuuuuu for sharing this tip..see I am really novice at contouring and somehow mess up with how to apply the correct shade of blush in the hollow of the cheeks-I will surely follow your directions-but me not like the peach satin blush-I will try my peachy blush from lotus then :)) thankuuu

        1. hey jinal nice tip..can u also tell me hw can i fynd hollow of my cheek ..i mean i knw this question may be sound silly :weep: but me don knw hw to do contouring :nababana: :nababana: help :waaa:

    1. Thankuuuu Rati!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :puchhi: :puchhi: :teddy: :teddy: :teddy: :inlove: :inlove:

  7. Anuradha, u look really pretty. I have seen this bronzer in the shop but never gave a thought of buying it coz I dint feel the need of a bronzer or rather I dint know how to use it. Now after reading ur review, I feel I did a mistake.
By the way, what eyeliner did u use for ur upper eye lid?? Looks really pretty on u..

    1. Hey as I said-a bronzer adds the extra zing to makeup-be it daytime or night-surely-like on a normal working day-I wont be wearing a bronzer 😀 but for occasions-I really love the metallic glow-on Indian skin it rocks even more I guess!! I am using the Lakme 9-to-5 eyeliner in sapphire-and did a kajal smudging to make it look a bit darker than its original royal blue color 🙂 🙂

      1. Thanks dear..I’m really staring at ur photo, loved the way u did ur eyes. As Mrun said, I’ll be waiting :waiting: :waiting: for ur posts coz it’ll hav a cute n pretty photo at the end. :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi:

        1. :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: hehehehe thankuu-you people donno how much fun and love you all have added to my life :))

  8. Anuradha, you look really cute and the bronzer does justice to your face too…thanks for the good review.

    1. Rati- I guess this product is exactly what you described-copper with orange tinge-and with a hint of gold-overall-the look is not that of a bronzer -rather a warm gold highlighter-low on the shine quotient-more on the glow side :))

  9. Hey Anu,

U look fab… infact, u always have this beautiful glow on ur face… bronzer or no bronzer… :stars:      :balle:

    1. Thankkuuuu Tarry-my face gets working on its oil pump after 10 minutes of applying makeup-so much that I often dont need highlighters 😀 😀 :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

      1. oh!

this happens with me too… I always used rose water ice cubes to rub on my face before makeup… :mirror: :mirror: :mirror:
        they are a big help… :jiggy1: :jiggy1: :jiggy1: :jiggy1:

        1. yaa I think I need to do the toning part a bit to control the oil-but u see-in this sultry Kolkata summer-everything sorta gets messed up after a while 🙁

  10. i wannntttt !!! someone do step by step picture tutorial on how to apply now 😐 😐 😐 😐
