Product Purchased by IMBB

Hello,

I love the new range of the spring-summer collection of Maybelline. I wanted to try this badly since I ran out of my compact and was in need of one.

My Experience with Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Ultra Breathable Satin Two Way Cake:

The packaging is simple and super classy, with a matte-beige colored outer case. The compact comes with a full-sized mirror. It is very convenient to carry around and the mirror helps for touch ups. The sponge provided seems good, but I cannot get to work well with it and it is not of much use to me.

I chose the shade “Beige” that I felt would match my fair skin tone among the other shades that were available. I must say the shade selection is not very impressive and would not match a lot of Indian skin tones. My shade doesn’t look very much like what it looks in the pan.  Upon application, it looks very cakey and gives a patchy finish. I cannot say that it is satiny smooth, but it is quite smooth, but not up to my satisfaction.

It is supposedly a two-way cake, but I do not think it works in the wet form at all. It gives coverage to blemishes to an extent, but its biggest flaw is that it looks very cakey on me. I guess the shade I got is wrong for me. A little amount will go a long way, and applying too much will leave a whitish cast. The texture is a boon to oily skinned beauties as it controls oil well for 3+ hours.  It does clog up the pores. My sister likes it better and it suits her skin well. This compact looks very cakey on me and tends to highlight dry patches, so it will not suit dry skinned beauties that well.

Would I Recommend Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Ultra Breathable Satin Two Way Cake?
I think there are better options out there, but this may suit oily-skinned beauties. I feel it is slightly overpriced for just an average powder.

  1. I had been waiting for its review for sometime now. But, I don’t think it’s worth all the hype. Since I have normal-dry skin, I don’t feel the need to use such products. But, well reviewed Disha. 🙂

  2. This reminds me of the Colorbar timeless compact that I had used a while ago, lol 😛 cakey finish and dry patches 😛
