Hope all of you are doing fine. Today, I am here to share another variant of Maybelline Eye Studio Master Kajal which is better than previously reviewed Purple Dusk. So, let’s get started with Maybelline Eye Studio Onyx Rush Master Kajal’s review.

Packaging:

This conical cream eye liner also comes in usual pen packaging with safety cap. I personally prefer retractable packaging for hygiene and safety issues, but never mind, I am fine with this conical Kohl liner as long as it manages to stay hidden from my little girl’s mischievous eyes. 😛

My Experience with Maybelline Eye Studio Onyx Rush Master Kajal:

This particular Maybelline Kohl liner stays true to its claims to good extent, unlike the other variant called Purple Dusk. I often use Kohl at bedtime so that I wake up with natural black eyes. This look appears great with no extra makeup and hence, I always look for mild on eyes and thick Kohl type liners. And, this Maybelline Kohl liner fits the bill quite well.

Onyx Rush is not the blackest black Kajal, but close to deep matte black which effortlessly lines and defines my eyes with no tugging, pulling and/or smudging for good number of hours. However, by the time these liner reach their finish line, their texture tends to become dry. But, this might be because of the fact that they get exposed to air as I am sometimes too lazy to put the cap back on. 😛

It seems quite creamy and buttery to slather along my water line, and does not transfer or buzz around. I feel it might not be suitable for my oily eye lids and hence, I limit its usage to the waterline only. I have been using it for months on daily basis and it has never irritated or accentuated my sensitive eyes issues so far. I feel it’s quite decent for daily Kohl users like me who want that natural Kohled eye look without looking too much made up. As I told earlier, I use it at bedtime mostly, apart from wearing during the day time. And, while I wake up with thick natural Kohled eyes by morning, I do see slight flaky traces of Kohl around my eyes apart from smudged Kohl under my eye area. This is manageable, but explains that its staying power is lesser than 10-12 hours.

Even during the day time, it tends to fade quickly from outer corner of my eyes which needs quick touch ups; though, it stays put thereafter for long hours. It does not smudge or transfer during day time wear, thankfully. But, it certainly needs touch ups for initial hours and after that, every 6 or 7 hours.

Over all, I feel it is a pretty decent product for daily wear, but for waterline and not as an eye liner. I am not sure if I would get it again as I am eyeing other gentle waterline safe eye products, preferably with retractable packaging.

Pros of Maybelline Eye Studio Onyx Rush Master Kajal:

• Glides effortlessly on water line as well as on eye lids without tugging and/or pulling.
• Its pointed, yet soft tip helps with smooth and closer lining of eyes.
• Gentle on eyes with no irritation.
• Long-wear, smudge-proof and transfer proof formula.
• Convenient and user friendly packaging.

Cons of Maybelline Eye Studio Onyx Rush Master Kajal:

• Its ‘all day wear’ claims are false as it hardly stays more than 7-8 hours in any case.
• Tends to fade off quickly from outer corner of the eyes.
• Packaging is quite unhygienic.
• The tip of cone becomes dry by the time it comes to finish line.
• The shade is not blackest black.
• Not suitable for oily eye lids, only limited to waterline.

Conclusion:

Well, I feel it is a decent deal for all Kohl lovers out there, while others might feel disappointed in general. I like it and wear it more often than other black liners, but I am not yet convinced to get it again as I see plenty of new Kohl liners in market that need to be tried and tested by me. Moreover, I love trying every possible brand and hence, chances of repurchasing are nil or minimal, irrespective of pros and cons. 😛
