Maybelline Lacquered Brown Color Sensational High Shine Lipstick Review

Continuing with my lipstick obsession I’m back with yet another lipstick review which has been lying unattended in my stash for quite some time now. The lipstick that I’m going to talk about is the Maybelline Colorsensational High Shine Lipstick in the shade Lacquered Brown. I know I’m really late to review this product as this has been in the market for quite a while but as they say, better late than never! So, let’s hop on to the review…

My Experience with Maybelline Lacquered Brown Color Sensational High Shine Lipstick:

The lipstick comes in a stubby rectangular case with a shade indicator at the bottom which makes it super easy to locate in your stash. The case is very similar to the other Color sensational lipsticks from the brand with the only difference lying in the cap which has a high shine mirror finish (indicative of the range) as compared to the plastic caps from the basic Color sensational range.

The shade Lacquered Brown is a glossy, mauvey brown shade with a lot of pinkish-purple shimmer which adds to the high shine effect. Being an NC42 in M.A.C, I really enjoy sporting this colour as it adds that little amount of colour to my face without screaming for attention; I often wear it to work. This shade would suit medium to dusky skin tone girls really well though fair girls should try it once at the counter before taking the plunge as its mauvey undertone may make them look a little dull.

The finish of the lipstick, as is evident from the name of the range is a super duper glossy one and it eliminates the need of a balm or any prior prepping. It gives a plumping effect to the lips and adds a whole lot of moisture, leaving the lips extremely hydrated even post removal. The best part about this lipstick is that inspite of being so balmy and glossy, the bullet is super sturdy and it has been surviving the Kolkata heat really well which I feel is commendable.

The lipstick has a strange fragrance which I cannot put into words and neither can I decide whether it’s a nice or a bad one. Nevertheless, I would want to call it a citrusy fragrance and I’m not really a fan of it.

In terms of pigmentation, this lipstick starts off as a sheer one but it is definitely buildable upto a medium coverage. This makes it super convenient for college goers as they can decide and control the coverage. The lipstick stays on for around 3 hours with the glossiness fading with time. It disappears post a full meal leaving behind a rosy tint and thus the lips are never left bare. It has a tendency to transfer, being a creamy one though that is one aspect common to all creamy/glossy lip products.

Final Verdict:
Overall, I quite like this lipstick as this shade is a pleasant change from my usual bold lipsticks. This can be a good option for teenagers stepping into the world of makeup due to its sheer texture and I highly recommend this shade to medium to dusky skin toned girls.
