Maybelline Lychee Baby Lips Candy Wow Review

I recently visited Bangkok, and for a makeup addict like me, it was a beauty paradise. Among all brands, I reached out to Maybelline first as I madly love their products. Surprisingly, I found a new variant in Baby Lips Candy Wow named “Lychee”, and I had to immediately buy it.

My Experience with Maybelline Lychee Baby Lips Candy Wow:

Packaging: Baby Lips Candy Wow comes in a chubby plastic packaging. The packaging represents the actual color of the product, making it easy to identify the shade. “Lychee” comes in a cute baby pink packaging with violet font all over it. You need to twist from the bottom to glide up and down the lip crayon, and it comes in a retractable form. Unlike other baby lips, these are sleek and long, and they also have lesser quantity.

Texture: The texture of “Baby Lips Candy Wow” is similar to the regular “Baby Lips” balm. It is creamy and applies smoothly. It has a glossy finish and is not sticky. Each shade is mildly scented with their respective fruity scents. It provides a nice glow to the lips.

Performance: Lychee is the lightest shade among the whole range of Candy Wow. It is a tinted lip balm that keeps the lips moisturized and also provides a sheer hint of color. It gives a very pale pink glossy hue to the lips. The output of this shade may vary depending on the color of the lips. This shade will not suit all skin tones and also would not cover pigmented lips well – probably that is why Maybelline did not launch this color in India. I have pigmented lips, and 2–3 swipes are needed to get a decent color payoff. Even then, the lip color does not feel heavy on the lips. The color gets collected at the edges of the lips if swiped many times. It glides on smoothly and is easy to use. The rounded crayon shape makes the application precise. Initially, it covers up all chapped portions, but once the lip balm starts to fade, the color clings to those chapped portions.

This lip balm provides hydration to the lips but does not treat or heal chapped lips. It has a nice fruity scent (i.e., lychee smell in this lip balm), but it does not stay for long. Exfoliate your lips to get a perfect look. The staying power is less compared to the other colors in this range. The color and moisture stay on for only 2 hours. Reapplication is needed. This shade does not leave behind any stain. It does transfer and cannot survive even light meals. Overall, it is a good alternative to the usual plain, sticky lip balms.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Maybelline Lychee Baby Lips Candy Wow?
This shade can certainly be given a miss as other shades in this range work well for our Indian skin tones. I have “Orange” and “Cherry” as well from this range, so no more purchasing of Candy Wow lip balms.
