Continuing with my reviews of the Maybelline Lip Studio Color Blur Cream Matte Pencils, I am reviewing the shade “Plum Please” today. I have already reviewed the shades “Fast and Fuchsia”, “Pink Insanity,” “I’m Blushing”, “Orange Ya Glad”, “Berry Misbehaved” from the Maybelline Lip Studio Color Blur Cream Matte Pencil range. My Experience with Maybelline Plum Please Color Blur By Lip Studio Cream Matte Pencil and Smudger:
Packaging: This lip pencil comes in a slender pen format. The packaging is quite bright and colorful. The color of the outer packaging matches the color of the lipstick inside.
One side of the pencil houses the actual lip product. This side is retractable and you don’t need to bother about a sharpener. The narrow lip product makes the application easy and precise, especially in areas like the cupid’s bow and the inner corners of the mouth.
The other side of the pencil is a soft silicone smudger. You can use the smudger to blur/smudge the product to create a softer, lesser pigmented look or an ombre or gradient look. The packaging also has a small diagram depicting how to use the smudger to create a gradient look.
Both the sides have caps which shut tight. The packaging is quite sturdy and travel friendly.
Shade/Pigmentation: “Plum Please” is a gorgeous plum/oxblood shade. It is a shade totally suited for the current cold months. Some of you might find it a bit too dark and that’s where the smudger can be used to create a softer look.
The lipstick is strongly pigmented, but somehow, the finish is uneven on this particular shade and I need to apply at least two swipes to get an even finish.
Texture/Finish: The formula is creamy and the lip pencil glides easily on the lips. Since this is a matte pencil, it has a velvety powder-like finish with no shine. The product feels soft and luxurious on the lips. However, I would recommend exfoliating and moisturizing the lips prior to application as this shade has a tendency of clinging onto dry patches.
Otherwise, the lipstick wears comfortably and does not feel very drying. It does not provide any extra hydration to the lips and hence dry lipped beauties are advised to wear a lip balm underneath.
Lasting Power: The lasting power on the lip pencil is pretty good and it easily stays put for around 6-7 hours with light meals. It does transfer but only slightly.

Yes, you can surely try this lip pencil if you like matte lipsticks and like this particular shade. The smudger adds uniqueness to the whole package and can be used to create some fun looks. I would not repurchase the same shade.
