Best Maybellline Foundation : Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Samareen Asks :

Am getting married soon so wanted to get the best foundation.

Can you tell me which one is best among these two?

1. Maybelline Mineral power Foundation (powder)
2. Maybelline Wonder finish makeup
I have a very oily skin. I tried using Avon Cashmere finish foundation but it made my face look painted πŸ™
Heard about the above two foundations. If they are not for my skin can you recommend any other foundation but not too costly like MAC’
hoping for the reply πŸ™‚

  1. thanks heeba πŸ™‚
i read that review too and the one about mineral one too so am a bit confused now ?:) which one is the best among these two?:)
if you know about any other good foundation am all ears πŸ˜€

        1. thank you πŸ˜€
but would the mineral one be good for my skin?
I want one with matt finish cz when i applied lakme moisturizer before Avon foundation my skin looked so oily and shiny eeewwww πŸ™
i later bought colorbar one and clean and clear oil free moisturizer. it was ok but not the look i wanted πŸ™

  2. Dear Samareen, if you have very oily skin then please don’t go for Wonder Finish. That does nothing for oily skinnies like us. Not waterproof, not sweat-proof. Gone in just 15 mins after applying. I also purchased it some 1 month back seeing all the reviews but have now stopped using it completely. πŸ™
About mineral powder foundation, no idea.
If you can afford some higher range then I would recommend Estee Lauder Max Coverage. Awesome for oily skinned.
Some low range tries can be Max Factor liquid Illusion(590/- but you can get some discount if try harder, i got it at 510). I have tried this and found this very good πŸ™‚ .
And based on reviews, you can try Revlon New Complexion (around 500/-), Colorstay etc.

Good luck for your marriage πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

  3. thank you krupa πŸ™‚ but i need one within my budget. the MAC one’s awesome but high priced Rs.1600!! not fr me πŸ™
and about dream mousse i read such bad reviews that am too afraid to try it..

  4. hi..if u r based in india, i don think the maybelline mineral foundation is available here..only dream matte mousse, and wonderfinish are available here…i think so, but bette clarify..have a great wedding ahead :specs: :specs:

  5. i dont think u should buy any of the maybelline foundations for ur wedding … comparing to maybelline there are much more better foundations in the market … ( my personal opinion )

    1. there are????
which one will suit me best????
is the MAC one really good?
if it is then i’ll think of investing in it..

      1. Actually am new to makeup. i only used kajal, compact and lipstick before (Avon’s) so i dont have any idea about which product is good which one is bad..

        1. oh ! there are many of them … i always used revlon colorstay one … it has like 2 of them … 1 for combo/oily skin and 1 for normal/dry skin … and also it has many shades to choose from … u can also try the body shop oil free foundation spf 15 … my mom has oily skin and she looks really good and also its staying power is damn good …

  6. hey..if u can afford and since its ur d day, mac is really a great investment ..but if u r on budget, i’dsay yes to lakme 9 to 5..if not, revlon photoready will be my second choice…u’ll look so damn photogenic and great with the revlon one but since u r oily skinned u’ll need a primer…or even revlon colorstay will do good…
    1.mac
    2.revlon photo
    3.revlon cs
    4.lakme 9 to 5

    1. i could invest in mac bt as rati said on her review that it is for dry skinned girls so am thinking of buying revlon colorstay πŸ™‚

  7. priya someone or the other “always” helps you with your queries and if the queries are replied I dont necessarily need to reply to your queries. Also, a lot of queries have already been replied regarding eyeshadow primers. Please use the search option regrading the same. πŸ™‚

  8. samareen i guess i would also suggest revlon colorstay. It would be great for photographs and would last long. Powdering the face and applying primer underneath the foundation are equally necessary for such occasions. They help your makeup to last longer. I guess if you are getting your makeup done by a makeup artist, he/ she would take care of that. πŸ™‚ For your regular use you can buy the revlon foundation and may be a lotus or lakme compact. This would take care of your makeup routine when you’d have to be all decked up during the initial days of marriage. πŸ™‚

Also do start taking acre of your skin.

Good luck for your wedding. :))

    1. thanks πŸ™‚ your reply was the one i was looking forward to πŸ˜€ my makeup guru   :yahoo:
I will definetly but revlon colorstay.
can you tell me which power and primer go with this????
Fahee said above that coloressence primer is good.
earlier i bought colorbar white uv compact along with colorbar foundation. when the Sales girl applied it on my hand they both looked good but is it really any good?? ?:) cz when i applied it on my face it didnt glow the way i wanted πŸ™

  9. It’s best to use separate primers. You can buy a beyu primer or even use your concealer and set it with powder. that would work as a primer. inglot makes an eyeshadow primer for rs 450 , you can purchase that also.

  10. You can go for Revlon Colorstay or Photofinish….both are equally good. And I find them better than my MAC Studio Tech for photographs as well as coverage. πŸ™‚

  11. hmmm.I haven’t gone thru all the suggestions, but as far as I had seen, no1 seemed to have suggested Bourjois mineral matte mousse foundation! πŸ™
It’s a foundation with mousse like texture inthe tub and when spreading, but dries to a powdery, matte finish that looks so natural! Because it’s mineral foundation, you’ll have no breakouts and bad skin when wearing it during your wedding ceremonies for long hours!
Coverage is great as it can be layered on till you get the desired concealing.
It’s got a powdery matte finish so no need for separate compact..and it’s not drying unlike other mousse or liquid foundations!
Plus it’s super affordable at 550! you get a cute brush along with for 300 bux and it’s a lil gem of a kabuki..applies the foundation beautifully!
Do give it a dekho! It’s worth the money and a wonderful brand..hope I helped! πŸ™‚

    1. Sukanya,
Is it available in India (especially in chennai)..
I have a combination skin, do u have a idea whether it will suit my skin type..

Thanks Samareen for raising this Query, Its helping me too πŸ˜‰
      Congrats :teddy:

      1. @Rati di
@Shami yeah! I got mine from westside’s bourjois counter..you can try that out too and yes it’ll suit your skin cz I’ve got major pimply skin and this dusn’t add to my woes πŸ™‚

  12. hi! rati, ur body shop look was fab. i have oily skin as well..tried bourjois healthy mix foundation but it did nothing for my open pores. can u suggest me a good foundation and a primer..btw, i am really addicted to IMBB. thanx for bringing out such a great blog :thanks: :thanks:

    1. amrita, thanks. i think there was a review of the body shop pore perfector done a few days back you may check that. I guess you would hve to apply a pore perfector to make any foundation work for you.

  13. Is it necessary to apply a translucent powder after the application of foundation.
Can anybody suggest some powders which are affordable?? ?:)

N special thanks to Rati for such a wonderful blog, the suggestions are super helpful.
