Milani Liquif Eye Liquid Eyeliner Automatic Propel Pencil in Purple

Hey Everyone,

Hope you all are having a great week. This fall, purple and plum are so huge that I am seeing them everywhere and me being an eye liner fan, I had to get it. I wanted to get another MAC, but I read a lot about Milani products being really great and comparable to the high-end brands, so I decided to get this.

Milani describes it as “deep purple,” but I found that it is deep purple, almost grayish black and has duochrome purple glitter on it.

Around $7

My Experience with Milani Liquif Eye Liquid Eyeliner Automatic Propel Pencil in Purple:

I swatched the liner on my arm and was very happy with the color payoff. It looks very pleasant and a lot of times, I only wear the liner on my top eyelid with some mascara. Packaging wise, it is an “automatic propel” packaging which means it is an auto twist-up pencil, but once the product is out, you can’t twist it back (which is a pain) also.  I found that if I leave the product for a few days, the tip dries up and then it is a chore to apply it. I have to rub it on my arm for a while to soften it up before I put it on.

Also, Milani says “extremely smooth, with the application and feel of a liquid liner that delivers true color payoff in a metallic finish with a long-lasting wear.” I kind of beg to differ on that too.  It is NOT liquid liner type, not at all. YES, it has great staying power and pigmentation, but is not smooth or sharp at all. Let me sum it up for you:

Pros of Milani Liquif Eye Liquid Eyeliner Automatic Propel Pencil in Purple:

  • Extremely pigmented.
  • Excellent staying power.
  • Has a great metallic sheen to it.
  • The metallic version comes in 3 colors.
  • Kind of creamy and smooth (not like MAC or MUFE but okay-ish smooth).
  • Easy to work with.
  • Sets pretty quickly, so you have to blend as soon as you apply (if you want to blend).
  • Does not give me raccoon eyes.
  • Also, can be removed easily with baby oil or a makeup remover.
  • The glitter stays put and does not travel all over my face.

Cons of Milani Liquif Eye Liquid Eyeliner Automatic Propel Pencil in Purple:

  • The tip kind of dries up if I leave it for a while and then its too rough to put it on the eye.
  • Since it has glitter, I would not advise to apply on the waterline.
  • Also, contact lens wearers might have a problem with the glitter.

Verdict:

Milani is a great brand and I would love to try the non-metallic versions, but this one I would give a skip.
