MUA Smoked Plum 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner Review
Hello Beautiful Ladies,
Today, I will be writing about one unique eyeliner from my colored liners collection. It is one of the newest additions to my stash. The color I have for you all today is called “Smoked Plum” and it is one of the extreme contour liners from MUA. I am a huge fan of funky colored eyeliners and I do have many colors, but when I saw this, its shape attracted me and I decided to try it out.
Price:
0.4 gm for Rs. 550
Packaging:
These eye liners seems to be completely normal when viewed from outside. It comes in an all black pen form with a black cap which is further packed in a black colored box. The uniqueness of the product comes into play when the lid of the pen is opened. This eyeliner is different from all the other lines in the fact that this is an angled eyeliner, which actually makes it a versatile product. It is a retractable pen which avoids the need of sharpening the product again and again.
Ingredients:
Product Description:
Create the look with this fantastic 3 in 1 Contour Eye Pen. The angles of the nib allows you to create different looks, whatever your occasion. Add drama by creating big and bold eyes, go glamorous for a soft and sultry effect, or define eyes for an ultra chic finish.
My Experience with MUA Smoked Plum 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner.
These liners can be used in 3 different ways to get the desired look. As it is angled, it can easily be used to get a precise line from the thinnest part of the nib, mid part of the nib can help to get a smoky effect, and if you want to use this as a base and cover the complete lid area, the widest part of the nib is the best option.
Color and Pigmentation:
As the name suggests, Smoked Plum is a deep shade of plum that can be used to get a smoky eye look. It almost seems to be a black-toned plum. The color is perfect for creating a purple smoky eye without much effort. The place where efforts have to be put is to get the desired color intensity on the lids. The color is averagely pigmented and 3-4 swipes are required to get the actual intensity of the color. The color is completely free of shimmer particles, but does have a metallic sheen which makes it shine.
Texture:
This liner is really smooth in texture and feels like silky smooth during application and this is due to the oils it might have. But unfortunately the oil content makes it greasy. The oiliness makes it extremely vulnerable to creasing, especially if you have oily lids, which is the reason why it is not a very good option for an eye shadow base. Yes, it is easy to blend, but do we want our liner to blend?
Staying Power:
The color is too oily to stay on the lids for long. On my oily lids, the color doesn’t even stay for 4 hours. When used as a liner, I can expect the color to show on my lids (after 3-4 swipes) for 3-4 hours, but only when I don’t touch my eyes at all.
Though the pencil can work in 3 different ways, the color is best to get a smoky effect, that too with a setting powder over it, if we want the look to stay intact. Using it as a liner is only an option if you want to line your eyes only for few hours or if you want to have a smoky liner, don’t expect long stay. And using it as a shadow base is not an option at all (especially if you have oily lids).
Pros of MUA Smoked Plum 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner:
- Can be used to create 3 different looks.
- Perfect color to get a plum smoky eye look.
- Very soft and smooth to apply.
- Retractable (no need to sharp).
- Has a metallic sheen without shimmer particles.
- Easy to blend.
Cons of MUA Smoked Plum 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner:
- Not-so-good pigmentation.
- Greasy.
- Creases on the lid when used as an overall color base.
- Poor staying power.
- Pricy.
Would I repurchase MUA Smoked Plum 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner?
I bought two of these, but considering the way they are working for me, I won’t buy them again. Neither would I like to buy this color nor would I go for any other color from this range.
Would I recommend MUA Smoked Plum 3 in 1 eXtreme Contour Liner?
No! The liner is a bit on the pricier side (at least in India), and many better options are available in this price range.
