My Jewelry Organization and My Home :)

By Aruna

Hi there!! I have put together some pictures of the jewelry I own and while I was at it I also took some pictures around the house. Couple of the house pics are new while some are of when we first moved in.

JEWELRY
You might recognize some of this jewelry from Deepika Designs ..:)

The BROWNS!!

Brown Jewelry

My Silver/White collection. 🙂

Silver jewelry collection

Greens/Turquoise – the least of them all. Need to buy more greens..hahaha..

green jewelry

The Fab blues!!!

Blue jewelry

The Reds and Maroons..

Red Jewelry

My favourite piece!! This was my quickest purchase in the US for $5 when I was on vacation last year. The outlet mall was going to close and I had about 30 mins to go to like 5 or 6 shops and I loved this as soon as I set my eyes on it.

I organize them in different boxes so that’s easy to pick and choose.

HOUSE PICTURES

I love white..This is a pic of when we first moved in. I have moved furniture since then. 🙂  My husband thinks it’s easier to let me move things around than give in every time I ask for something new..I don’t blame him..:) And just to fill you folks in on some unimportant info – This space now has a blue sofa and I have moved this sofa to the main sitting area..:) when I get bored, the white sofa will be right back here where it belongs . 🙂

The cozy little room with the TV and music where we entertain, chill out types.

cozy room

A friend had made some banana /walnut bread and gotten it over. Looked so good that I just had to share it with you folks.

walnut bread

And last but not the least my husband at THE BAR..

CHEERS ALL!!!!

Hope you liked the pictures. I had a lot of fun putting this together.
………………………….love and kisses

  1. Wow Aru!! your collection is fab!! your home is also very sweet 🙂
i too like whites…but I dont get them… I am afraid I would never let anyone ruin my whites with even a speck of dirt and shall get too much obsessed with maintaining the stark whites 🙂

    1. ya totally get that and thanks..to be honest we put that sofa in the main drawing room so hardly anyone ever used it..still remained quite white’ish for the longest time..the one in the living room was darker so a little dirt/dust didnt matter much at all..

  2. lovely, lovely and just lovely jwellery collection your have… and ur home is so chic and cozy… Aruna… loved eveything, my fab is Blue ones!!!!

  3. You have great taste in jewellery as well as home interiors Aru…!!! Your jewellery collection is just wow.. 🙂

    1. Thanks Pallavi..needless to say i love dressing up my outfits with some stuff like this..i went thru’ phases where i would buy just small studs and then ofcourse the big chunky jewelry phase..:)

    1. ahh thanks..yeah the bar is pretty cool..It was supposed to be a ‘puja room’ there (North east corner) but we converted it to a bar/breakfast area instead 🙂

  8. aww aruna loved every bit of your collection. I spent three hours organizing yesterday. I thought it’d be all feng shui at the end of it but honestly i ended up being irritated because it was not getting over only. 😛 so towards the end I dumped a lot of stuff in one container, which i have decided to organize next week. then will share piccys. 😀 I organized mine according to the items – earrings in one, chunky necklaces in one and kinds. But color co-ordination is my all time fav- i do that with my bangles, shoes, clothes and bags.

Love your home. So peaceful and welcoming. Am I invited? 😀

    1. Thanks Rati. Firstly ofcourse you are invited. goes without saying. IMBB is what gets me thru’ my day and especially tough days so I owe IMBB big time..:) and thanks for all the wonderful compliments.

I did try organizing items acc to earrings, necklaces etc but somehow it was a pain to pick one from each box if i wanted to match my outfit so..and recently i also picked up transparent dabbas to put my jewelry so it was easy to locate the blues, reds etc..

am looking fwd to your pics. i am sure i will get some super ideas too..

      1. actually i guess i might pick up your color co-ordination idea for jewlery too. It makes more sense seriously. But then organizing again. I think I’ll pass now. hihihi

        *hugs*

        1. rati di i doubt you will not be welcome in any house of the imbb gang! aru is right we all owe you big time for creating such a huge extended family for us! It goes without saying you can drop in at my place anytime you visit chennai! It would be such an honour!

    1. Thanks Sakhi. tried to keep it minimalistic and played with some colors..the living room has a purple wall :)..it was great fun doing the house too..

        1. ya kinda..i dont want to overcrowd a room but still keep it interesting by having something in a bright color or a piece that stands out. still trying though 🙂

  9. its all so lovely. The jewellery collection is so cute.. And the house looks so cozy and comfortable 🙂

  10. Aru u have a lovely home n u have done it up really well. N looking at ur jewellery collection was like looking at Accessorize store where everything is coordinated!! Its a good thing I dont stay close buy. I’d have stolen the whole lot for sure 🙂
Love ur subtle n classy style in decor!! 🙂

    1. Thanks Ramya..Reg my home, thats exactly the concept we were going for..reg jewelry, next step is to buy jewelry boxes or find some way to my jewelry even better..:)

  11. Nice collection Aruna… When I read the name of the post I thought it was from Jomol….
@Jomo: Please do your goldie gold post again

    1. oh wow..thats so cool..actually i might not wear the necklace and the earrings together..depending on the mood and the occasion i wear them solo..but i love the chunky stuff on plain colored shirts/kurtas..it shows off the jewlery a bit more i think. what do you’ll think?

      1. yeah, I’ve tried buying chunky neck-pieces for plain outfits…but I somehow just give up at the last moment… will try again some time! 🙂

  12. OMG Aruna! ur jewellery collection is so good! loved each and every piece. <3 Ur house i so nicely done! loved the post. 🙂

  13. Wow great collection Aruna…i love how uve organized them according to colors..i like ur home..and how do u maintain white sofas??i know it’s a weird question but i wonder how people who have white sofas maintain them cos it gets so dusty n everything in India..

    1. dust we can get rid off..abt maintaining white sofas, dry cleaning plays a big role and we are extremely extremely careful about eating there 🙂 but a good idea would be to have a throw type of material on one corner of the sofa. if you like the throw to be white also then cool else a throw in a bright color is a good way to add a little color to a ‘white’ room. perhaps remove it when ppl come??? 🙂 The other advantage of a throw is that you can also use to odofy it around you..:) hope this helps..

    2. One more thing to add – now I have dark brown leather sofas. They are a breeze to maintain compared to my old ones.
My previous sofas were white, and I used to keep them clean by regular shampooings. You can buy shampoo specifically for carpets and sofas.
And if you dust them every few days with a cloth, they remain relatively free of dust. And of course, no food/drink/ feet on the white couch 😀 It sure seems like a lot of effort, but over a period of time, we got used to it 😀 And the reward is white sofas 🙂
The throw is a really good idea, Aruna. I never would have thought of that! 🙂

      1. Thanks Samantha..ya you just kinda learn over time on how to take care of stuff :)..leather sofas are so comfy. that wud have been a good purchase I bet..

  14. Thankss Eshh. Thats such a lovely thing to say..my husband obviously had a big role to play cos we both chose a lot of that stuff together. lot more pics on FB (Grihapravesh waala).

abt the jewelry – a lot of it i have bought in the past 2 to 3 years frankly. i did have some oxidized silvery type before stuff but a lot of the colored stuff happened only recently.

    1. you call it a bar, let her call it a breakfast area..:) make a cupboard where you can put the stuff in such a way so thats its not visible..:) sorry bad advice..

  15. Am really fond of Accesories & Classy Home…as they both cater your appetite for creativity & you have an Absolute Elegant Possessions.. 🙂

      1. Now I wonder..How to pronounce my own name.. 😀 Juss Kidding.. 😀

We too have an Ivory Sofa that too in Soft Corduroy..We use stretchable covers which become second skin for ’em..covers every mm & we have 2 sets in Beige & Blue..so by changing covers itself we get new look..though we take out ’em while hosting guests.. 🙂

        1. oooh sorrrrry..Shilpa Shilpa Shilpa..oh thats a fantastic idea..stiching new covers for them..hmm..didnt think of it..when one set is at the dry cleaners perhaps the other can be used..i am glad i put that fotoof my house cos i am getting some really cool ideas from you folks..thanks

          1. Aru…Fraaandshipp me No Sorry & No Thank You.. 😀 Here we get readymade such covers made of Lycra with elastic on all edges..& they are comfortable going in the washing machine too..Real convenience it is.. 🙂

              1. Jhimilben…Ame ekdum majama..tamara shun khabar chhe ? I keep on dialling on FB every single day..Check my latest piccies..I did shooting for a commercial 2 days back..*happydance*

                  1. Aru…We have very few Indians here..& that becomes our USP.. 😀 Whenever Indians are needed..they dun have much choice & we dun have much competition. 😛 Did one shoot last year also..Our whole family was selected last year & this year too..but hubby culdnt make it both the times so me & kiddoo went ahead.. 🙂 Am with same name on FB…lemme try to find you too..!!

  16. Aru……I loved your home, your accessories, and everything about this post. You know, the men in our family would want a bar like that…..ha ha…..:)

    1. hhaha..can imagine..but this is not a very obvious one wherein everything is in your face type..its kind of subtle..the stuff is in the cupboards below..but ya the area does look like it is a bar..

      1. yeah, and your hubby seems to be very happy…:) Loved going through the pics again 🙂 The black trays you have laid out the stuff on….looks awesome 🙂

  17. Aru I loved your collection and you have organized so neatly! When I look at mine it is no where close to your’s 🙁 Nice cozy house and I loved the bar 😉

    1. Thanks Neha..the bar is a good place to sit and have coffee, tea..etc..too..:) the bar stools make it really comfy. w.r.t jewelry i wish i had neater storage cases but i guess dabbas would do for now. 🙂

  18. Aruna, such a wonderful post. Felt so warm after seeing all the pictures. Nice collection of jewellery and sweet home 🙂
