My Experience with NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette:

I got this palette even though it is a limited edition because of the fact that 7 out of 8 shades in this particular palette are permanent shades available individually as singles. Each eye shadow in this palette is 0.03 oz whereas the full size individual pan is 0.05 oz which retails for $29 each. Hence, this palette was a far better value to get at of these shades which could have costed much more if gotten individually. The shade Ursa Major is for now only exclusive to this palette, rest of the shades can be purchased on their own.

Packaging:

NARS as always did not disappoint with its super elegant and sleek packaging. The palette has a mirror top and has a nice wet/dry travel-size applicator brush provided. The brush has very soft, smooth on the lids and densely packed bristles. It works great to pack on wet eye shadow, not very useful for blending out shadows.

Texture:

All of these eye shadows are very smooth and blend-able. They did not produce much fall out. They are also very pigmented especially the deeper shades, with dry application the intensity can be built up with couple of layers. When applied wet the pigmentation becomes much more intensified and give a much more metallic finish. I did have some difficulty getting a smooth even wet application right off the bat. It did take some time and patience to pack on the shade on the lid or else if done in a hurry, I get a uneven patchy application.

Most of these shades have a satin finish with hints of shimmer. They almost have that duo chrome look.

Shades:

Europa: Light pale pinky peach with a metallic/frosted finish. It does not really show up clearly on my skin tone. Works best if applied wet for intense pigmentation. Good for using as a highlight.

Himalia: a very beautiful coppery bronz-y topaz shade. Will work great as an all over lid color. Works good both wet and dry though wet application will give a more metallic finish which complements this shade very well.

Ursa Major: A deep brown having hints of grey-ish taupe undertone. Mostly matte (without shimmer) but with hint of sheen. Works great as a crease shade to complement any of the other shadows in the kit.

Subra: is an absolutely beautiful deep purple with hint of sheen and subtle shimmer. Pigmentation is very good. Looks great both wet and dry.

Andromeda: Light cream nude shade with light golden sheen. Works great as a brow bone and inner corner highlight for my skin tone. Pigmentation is good.

Lysithea: is a grey-ish light olive with a silver sheen. Works best applied damp for showcasing the beautiful shade with stronger pigmentation.

Giove: Deep navy blue with light sheen and hints of shimmer. Works best applied damp to get full intensity of pigmentation.

Sycorax: a deep black. It has rich pigmentation applied dry, will yield stronger nearly opaque color when used wet.

Another good thing about these shadows that the deeper shades can also be used as a liner when used wet with a slanted liner brush.

Staying Power:

The staying power on these eye shadows was good. I did not experience much creasing. They wore a good 6-7 hours dry, a couple hours longer when applied wet. I would recommend using this over a primer for better results.

I love the fact that these shadows do not form an ugly crusty layer on top when you have dipped you damp brush in them. Overall, these eye shades are truly of a very high quality. Using them is every easy and the shade range is absolutely stunning. I was impressed with all of deeper shades more than the lighter shades. So if you are thinking of purchasing any of them individually, I would suggest go for the deeper shades.

I will recommend NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette.

Cons of NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette:

• Light colors work better when used wet. Dry, they almost disappear into the skin!
• Wet application needs patience to get even application.

    1. My favorite are the deeper shades especially Giove..I am totally into experimenting with colors lately.. But I agree Brown shades are easiest and most versatile to work with
