How To Make Natural Cheek Tint: Do It Yourself

Today, I am very excited as I am going to share with you all a very easy way to make your own cheek tint at home! We are all fond of rosy cheeks, aren’t we? But somehow, the thought of lathering my face with blush everyday makes me scared. This is because I have fairly good skin (touchwood) and I fear that constant use of chemicals might harm my skin texture in the long run, but I am really fond of rosy cheeks, especially during winters. I wanted a herbal way which would give subtle color to my cheeks and nourish it too at the same time! I know it sounds too much to ask for, but thankfully, I found out the way. So today, I am going to teach you how to make yourself your very own nourishing cheek tint.

Things you will need are:

1. Beetroot ( choose the fresh ones from the market).
2. Glycerin.
3. A clean bottle to store your tint.
4. Knife (to cut the beetroot).
5. Sieve (to strain the tint into the bottle).

Procedure:

Step1:

Wash the beet root and peel off the outer skin.

Step 2:

Slice the beet root into a bowl and further chop it into small slices.

Step3:

Add enough glycerin to immerse all the pieces in the bowl.

Step 4:

Now, place this bowl in a double boiler and simmer for 15 minutes.  If you don’t have a double boiler like me, use a saucepan.  Just put some water in the pan, rest the bowl in it and put the saucepan on fire for 10 minutes.

Step 5:

Now, let the mixture cool and then strain it into the bottle.

Advantages of this cheek tint:

1. The glycerin in it will moisturize and keep your cheeks soft.

2. The beet root is full of antioxidants, so you are actually treating your skin with nourishment as you are tinting it.

3. It won’t break you out as it is totally homemade.

4. Glycerin acts as a preservative and this tint will stay for more than a month, but yes, weather conditions vary in India, so I would suggest you to throw it away if you happen to smell something other than beet there!

5. It will never give you a made up look, just a natural rosy glow!

Disadvantages:

1. Not as much pigmented as the readymade cheek tints available in market.

2. Does not have a shelf life as long as its chemical counterparts.

3. It might not show up on dusky skin tones. For the dusky beauties, I would suggest, rub beet slices directly on your cheeks and build up till you get the desired color.

Finally, here is how it looks on my cheeks 🙂

    1. Thanks rama.. Its really effective. N u know the best part? U r actually giving ur skin a dose of antioxidants when u r using this:D

  2. awesome aparajita!! Its great for people like me!! I hope i can replace glycerin wid honey as glycerin irritates my acne prone skin.. 😛
    Wonderful DIY

    1. Thanks a lot sweets!:* u can do one thing, just dab some freshly crushed beet on ur cheeks. Honey will make it sticky. Beet used alone is not at all sticky:)

    1. just dip ur fingers and dab it over ur cheeks 🙂 if you have fair skin it will show easily.. if you are more towards dusky, then just rub beet slices till you get the desired pigmentation 🙂

  7. i have sensitive skin, and many products spoiled my skin texture, good that you prepared it naturally, i will try and let you know!! 🙂

  8. Hey Aparajita, I must say u are very innovative by nature and u must always be this way. Your idea of a cheek tint is definitely not bad..plus the fact that natural ingredients are nourishing your skin at the same time. But I have a thought here is that this is ideal during winters.. but what about summers since glycerin during summers has a tendency to break out skin especially oily skin…

  9. so simple yet so effective….hats off to you aps…btw i have combi skin, oily t zone but dry cheeks, can i use this???

    1. A huuuuuuge thanks rati 🙂 :* n u know,u can even mix drops of this to ur regular moisturizer and have ur very own antioxiadant rich lotion:D
