Netherlands, France and Italy – A Travelogue

Netherlands, France and Italy – A Travelogue

By Dnyanashree

Hey you all!

This is my first post on IMBB and it is not related to beauty, fashion or make-up. I am a regular reader of IMBB and devour all posts everyday (well, don’t we all?). I so want to write here, and hope to contribute something to this blog some time. My name is Dnyanashree (you will have to take a special telephonic tutorial from me to learn to pronounce it), but I go by the name Avanti (for obvious reasons :-)) on the net. My parents named my sister Shruti and to this day, I haven’t forgiven them. Coming to the travelogue, my husband and I are wanderers at heart. Like good soul mates, we compliment each other (for example – I spend all his money and save all of my own) and hope to do a fair bit of globe-trotting. After an unbelievable co-incidence that Aruna ji and I were in Rome on the same street on the same day at the same time (I wish I could have recognized her :(, but we were busy staring at the Ferrari), here I am sharing my pics of our fourth honeymoon *shy* to the Netherlands, France and Italy. Many people will think that how come we didn’t include Switzerland in our trip. The reason being that we both were in the same company/project and were sent to Switzerland for work purpose. *shy* Tujhe dekha toh yeh jaana sanam happened and well, here we are! Anyway, enjoy the journey through the beautiful Netherlands, romantic France and spell binding Italy. This is a very picture heavy post and I have deliberately omitted the places that Aruna ji has already posted about!

Dekha ek khwaab toh yeh silsile hue…(Extremely happy to be in the continent of our pehla pehla pyaar :))

Tulip gardens

Amsterdam Canals

Amsterdam Canal

The majestic Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower

Every hour after dusk falls, the Eiffel tower glows for 5 minutes with thousands of sparkling lights. It is spectacular 🙂

Eiffel Tower at night

Champs-Elysees. Got my make-up done, and picked up a few things from Sephora.

Champs-Elysees

Notre Dame Cathedral (The hunchback of Notre Dame fame. There are many eateries and shops near the cathedral named Esmeralda and Quasimodo. With this at the back of my mind and adding the fact that I was reading a mushy Nicholas Sparks, the soul mate was bombarded with questions. Only after I was assured of undying love, did I shut up. :-P)

Shruti

‘Do lafzon ki..’ in a gondola :). The soul-mate was not sporting enough to sing alongside, so I sang alone earning some incredulous looks from many people. Waise, my voice comes better in chorus 😛

Gondola

The beautiful masks in Venice. Wanted to buy many colours, but the soulmate drilled some good sense into me in soothing tones.

Michelangelo’s David in Florence.

This one’s a replica. The real David is in some museum in Florence, but I wasn’t about to leave the H&M’s, the Sephora’s, the Accessorize’s , the Zara’s around good old David for the sake of art. After all, shopping is an art in itself! The soul mate was bored to death and since I had already relieved him of his credit card, resorted to playing Solitaire on mobile (hmmmph, how boring).

Spell binding Rome

The Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain

The Vatican (St. Peter’s Basilica). The pope gave an audience that day and hence there are so many chairs.

Unfortunately, no photography is allowed in the Sistine Chapel, but I must tell you what a wonder the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is. Google it to know more 🙂

Vatican

Castel Sant Angelo (The path of Illumination from Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons)

Saare jahaan se achcha moment in Rome. The credit card was conveniently forgotten at the hotel and I was assured that it’s a genuine mistake and not a conspiracy.

We walked and walked and hogged and hogged, but that’s how you are supposed to see Europe. I will be very happy to share some tips, if anyone is planning a trip. Do reach out to me in that case.

The credit card bill is expected in a few days, have to pacify the soul mate and expertly steer the conversation to other pleasant things or his mom. :-P. Works every single time, I tell ya!!

I hope you liked my post, do comment and let me know! And thanks for reading!
